- LF021-039001 Ringfort - rath
Description
On a gentle SSE-facing slope in pasture. A raised oval area (c. 60m ENE-WSW; 43.2m NNW-SSE) enclosed by a much-denuded, low bank of earth and stone (Wth 5.4m; H 0.4m max.) with a shallow external fosse (Wth 4m; D 0.3m) and an outer bank (Wth 4.8m; H 0.6m). Quarry holes are evident in both banks and a relatively modern farm building has been built into the outer bank at SSW. A modern NNW-SSE roadway divides the rath into unequal portions. The smaller portion, to the ENE, has been levelled and is not visible at ground level. Corresponding breaks (Wth 2.4m) in the banks at NNW with an accompanying causeway may mark the original entrance. There are two souterrains (LF021-039002-; LF021-039003-) within the interior. - LF021-039002 Souterrain
Description
Within the thickness of the inner bank of a rath (LF021-039001-) at SW. A linear passage (L 6.5m; Wth 1.5m), aligned NW-SE, leads to a creep (L 1.4m; Wth 0.8m; max. H 0.7m) at its NW end, which accesses a subrectangular chamber (5.3m NW-SE; 2.3m NE-SW; max. H 1.4m). The walls are built of drystone masonry and incline inward at the top to support a roof of large flat slabs. A second souterrain (LF021-039003-), of similar construction, is located in the NW quadrant of the rath. Both were exposed as a result of cattle trampling. (ITA Survey 1944) Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 4 September 2012
- LF021-039003 Souterrain

The creep accesses a small subrectangular chamber (5.5m NE-SW; 2m NW-SE; max. H 1.6m). The walls are built of drystone masonry and incline inward at top to support a roof of large flat slabs.
