• RO048-076 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  On a rise in an undulating landscape. Circular, slightly domed, grass-covered but poached area (int. diam. 37m NNE-SSW; 35.8m WNW-ESE) defined by the grass-covered foundations of a stone wall (Wth 1.75-1.85m; max. H 0.65m), best preserved NE-SE. There is a stone-lined entrance (Wth 2.2m) at ENE. A slight wall running from the centre towards the perimeter at NW may be a remnant of an overlying field system.   Description

  On the NE-facing slope of a small ridge with houses at the roadside c. 100m to the E. It is not marked on any ed. of the OS 6-inch map. • RO048-108004 Penitential station
  Description

  At the W edge of a low-lying basin. This grass-covered cairn (diam. of base 8.3m; diam. of top 3.3m; H 0.6m at W to 1.5m at E) surmounted by a chestnut tree, a glacial erratic (RO048-108006-) and a second cairn (RO048-108007-), now removed and replaced by a statue of St Bridget, c. 10m W of the bath-house (RO048-108001-) were part of the pattern.   Description

  Description

  At the W edge of a low-lying basin and c. 110m N of St. Bridget's well (RO048-108001-) and immediately N of the 17th century house (RO048-188----). A cairn consisting of a kerb (ext. diam. 9m) of large stones (dims c. 0.8-1m x 0.3-0.5m; H up to 0.7m) NW-E-S surrounds a tree. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

• RO048-188 House - 17th century
  Description

  On low-lying ground close to a marsh which extends off to the S and E. The W gable (L 6m) and adjacent parts of the N and S walls of a house which had two storeys and an attic survives. It is now incorporated into a handball alley, which extends to the W, and no diagnostic features are visible, but it was part of the rounds of St Bridget's Well (RO048-108001-), c. 100m to the SSE and may have been the house known as 'Tigh Sean an Tobair' (Kelly 1907, 7).
