• RO011-012 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  At the bottom of a NW-facing slope with a SW-NE stream or drain immediately to the N. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 36.5 N-S; 35m E-W) defined by a gapped earthen bank (at S: Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.8m; at N: Wth 4.2m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H. 1.6m). A fosse (Gannon 1972) cannot be seen now, and the site is cut by an E-W laneway S of the centre and partly obscured with spoil. Rath (RO011-013----) is c. 60m to the NE, but archaeological testing (00E0180) c. 30m to the NW failed to produce any archaeological material (Lennon 2002b). • RO011-014001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On top of a small drumlin. Oval grass-covered area (dims 45m E-W; 34m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 3m at E to 4.4m at N; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.95-1.5m) N-E and a scarp (H 0.2m at SW to 1.5m at NW) elsewhere. There is an outer fosse represented by a band of wet ground (Wth 3m) W-ENE and the site is circumscribed by an overgrown field bank ESE-W which is part of the perimeter of rath (RO011-014002-) immediately to the SE. • RO011-014002 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On top of a small drumlin. Subcircular grass-covered area (diam. 37m E-W; 31m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.6m at NE to 1.4m at S) NE-S and an earthen bank (Wth 4.5m; int. H 0.3-0.5m; ext. H 1.3m) and fosse (Wth of base 2.7m; D 0.1m) SW-W, the bank being incorporated into a field bank W-N. There is no identifiable original entrance. Rath (RO011-014001-) is immediately to the NW.   Description

  On a terrace of a NW-facing slope with a SW-NE stream c. 20m to the NW. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 32.5m N-S; 28.6m E-W) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 2.6m at S to 3.5m at N; int. H 0.2-0.35m; ext.   Description

  At the edge of a shelf overlooking a SW-NE stream, c. 40m to the SE. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 29.7m NNW-SSE; 23.5m ENE-WSW) defined by a scrub-covered earthen bank (Wth 3.8-5.8m normally to 7.6m at E; int. H 0.3-0.6m; ext. H 0.6-0.9m), which is reduced to a scarp (H. 1.3m) E-SSE. There is no visible fosse but the perimeter is overlain by the remnants of a stone wall SE-W-NW, and there are widened entrance gaps at ESE (Wth 3.4m) and N (Wth 4.3m).
