  Description

  At the bottom of the W-facing slope of a drumlin with a SW-NE section of the River Shannon c. 10m to the W. Oval grass-covered area (dims 44.5m N-S; 36.2m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3-4m; int. H 0.4-0.6m; ext. H 0.3-0.65m) N-E-S and a scarp (max. H 1.2m at N) elsewhere. The entrance (Wth 3.2m) is at NE, and there is a crescent-shaped enclosure or annexe (RO012-006002-) (dims c. 40m N-S; 7.5m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5m; 0.3m) at S and a scarp (H 0.2-0.5m) elsewhere attached to the SW.   Description

  At the bottom of the W-facing slope of a drumlin with the River Shannon immediately to the W. Crescent-shaped grass-covered area (dims. c. 40m N-S; 7.5m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5m; 0.3m) at S and a scarp (H 0.2-0.5m) SW-N attached to the SW of rath (RO012-006001-).   Description

  Located in improved pasture on a rise of a NE-facing slope. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is a subrectangular or D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 40m NW-SE; 32m NE-SW) defined by a slight scarp (at SE: Wth 3.2m; H 0.4m) that increases in magnitude from N-E-SW. The perimeter is truncated slightly at W (L 36m) by the line of a sunken field drain, and traces of what may be a sunken SW-NE field drain bisect the interior. There is no visible fosse or entrance.   Description

  Situated in improved pasture on a low rise. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. It is indicated as a small subrectangular field on the 1837 and 1912 eds of the OS 6-inch map. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 23m NW-SE; 22m NE-SW) defined by a low earthen bank (at SW: Wth of base 5.9m; Wth of top 2m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.2m) S-NW, which is reduced to scarp (at NE: Wth 5.4m; H 0.75m) N-E-S, but the perimeter merges into the slope NW-N. There is no visible entrance or fosse.   Description

  Situated in a generally level area of a gently undulating pasture landscape. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 30m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by a low scarp (at N: Wth c. 2.3m; H c. 0.15m; at S: Wth 2m; H 0.25m), with traces of a fosse (at N: Wth of top 5.1m; Wth of base Wth 1.2m; ext. D 0.1m) SW-W-NNE. There is no visible entrance. Outside the perimeter and curving around it SW-NW are the remnants of a field bank and hedge while a NW-SE field bank and hedge is just to the NE. The Jamestown Canal, which cuts off a loop of the River Shannon to the N is c. 110m to the S, and the W shore of Lough Nanoge (dims c. 400m E-W; c. 300m N-S) on the W bank a N-S section of the River Shannon is c. 300m to the E. • Albert Lock, lock, 1840–1850 · Regional interest
  Description

  Lock on Jamestown Canal, built in 1848 as part of the Shannon-Erne Navigation. Coursed cut stone blocks to retaining walls with name of 'Albert Lock' carved to north side. Tooled stone mooring posts and cast-iron rings. Two lock gates, now mechanised. Adjacent detached three-bay single-storey with attic lock keeper’s house, built in 1848, with return and extension to rear, c.1960. Pitched tiled roof with rendered chimneystacks. Flat roof to extension. Random coursed rock-faced stone walls, now painted with rendered extension. Replacement windows with stone sills. Lancet opening to eastern gable with cast-iron diamond-paned window. Replacement timber battened door and overlight to shouldered-arched opening within gabled porch. Stone and brick outhouse.
