• RO044-047 Field system
  Description

  Visible on aerial photographs (CUCAP: APH 22-24; BDT 91), and situated on a gentle N-facing slope with shelves of karst. An area of about 40acres (c. 16 ha) of scrub containing rectangular fields (dims c. 50m x c. 30m) with lazy beds defined by collapsed stone walls (Wth c. 1.5m; H 0.3m) lie in strips running NW-SE. The area is now reduced to about 14 acres (c. 5.5 ha), but there is no evidence of settlement at the surviving location. One house (RO044-128----) is c. 150m to N in reclaimed land.   Description

  Description

  On level landscape at the bottom of a gentle N-facing slope. Rectangular grass-covered area (ext. dims 10.3m E-W; 7.8m N-S) with slight rises (Wth c. 1.5m) for the walls. It may have had two rooms, and is within a small paddock (dims 40m E-W; 9-16m N-S) defined by slight traces of field banks and which has an opening (Wth 4m) at S.
