Description
On rock outcrop in a low-lying landscape. Oval grass-covered area (dims 41m N-S; 28m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth c. 3m; H 0.2-0.5m) W-N-SE and a scarp (H 0.8m) elsewhere, with an outer bank (Wth 3.6m; H 0.3-0.4m) separated from the inner by a berm (Wth 1.7m) NNE-SE. There is no identifiable original entrance, and much of the interior has been quarried. Archaeological monitoring (03E0914) of road-widening works, c. 140m to the S failed to produce any related archaeological material (Rooney 2006). Description
At the W end of a low E-W drumlin ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 37m E-W; 33m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.5-3.5m; int. H 0.3-0.4m; ext. H 1m) and outer fosse (Wth of top 6-7m; Wth of base 2.5-3m; D 0.2-0.3m) S-W, and a scarp (H 0.1m generally to 7m at N) elsewhere. There is a gap (Wth 11m) in the perimeter at E and the monument is bisected by a NNW-SSE field bank and ditches. Rath (RO028-096----) is c. 30m to the E. Description
On the crest of an E-W drumlin ridge. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 38m NNW-SSE; 36.2m WSW-ENE) defined by an earthen bank and hedge (Wth 3.2-4.8m; int. H 0.5-0.9m; ext. H 1.1-1.6m) which has been levelled (Wth 8m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.8m) N-SE, and with a fosse (Wth of top 6.2-7m; D 0.3m) SE-W-NW. There is an entrance (Wth 3.2m) at ENE. Description
On an E-W drumlin ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 43m ENE-WSW; 39m NNW-SSE) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 4.3m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.1m) SE-S and W-N (Wth 3-3.5m; int. H 0.2-0.8m; ext. H 1-1.4m), with a fosse visible as a band of reeds (Wth 2.5m) W-N. The perimeter is incorporated into a field bank and hedge N-E, but reduced to a scarp (H 1m) S-W. Description
On a rise on an E-W ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 46.3m E-W; 40.4m N-S) defined by an earthen bank with a hedge (Wth 4-5.5m; int. H 0.2m at W to 1.2m at N; ext. H 1.4m at W to 2.2m E-S) W-N-S but reduced to a scarp (H 1m) SW-W, and a rounded fosse (Wth of top 4.2m at W to 7.8m at E; Wth of base 1.8m at W to 3m at E; D 0.2m S-W to 0.8m at E). Description
On a S-facing slope overlooking Ardakillin Lough c. 300m to the SW. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 51.2m E-W; 50.5m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3-5m; int. H 0.1m at S to 0.5m at W; ext. H 0.7m at E to 1.5m at S) which is represented by a scarp down to the interior (H 0.4m) NNW-NNE, and a fosse (Wth of top 9.5m; Wth of base 5.6m; D 0.4m) W-NNW. Description
At the bottom of a S-facing slope, and at the N edge of the basin of rectangular Ardakillin Lough (dims c. 500m E-W; c. 350m N-S) which is c. 100m to the S. The lake was much larger in the 19th century (dims c. 1.8km NE-SW; c. 350m NW-SE at NE to c. 600m NW-SE at SW), extending much further to the NE (1837 OS 6-inch map). Crescent-shaped grass-covered and flat-topped earth and stone mound (dims of base 19.4m NE-SW; 11m NW-SE; dims of top 7.2m NW-SE; 6.5m NE-SW; H 1-1.5m) which was probably circular but a large quarry (diam. c. 11m) had been dug at NW.
