  Description

  On a SW-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 31m E-W; 29m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (at E: Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.8m) with some trees and a rounded fosse (at E: Wth of top 3.6m; Wth of base 2m; D 0.4m) W-N-S. The bank is reduced to a scarp S-W and there is no identifiable original entrance. • RO029-040 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a SW-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 26m N-S; 24m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (at E: Wth 5.6m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.2m) N-E-S and by a scarp (H 0.8m) elsewhere. • RO029-144 Settlement cluster
  Description

  The village of Mulliviltrin, known from references in the Strokestown estate papers and in local folklore, was a small impoverished settlement of c. 70 people before its inhabitants were evicted and the mud cabins destroyed in 1847. It is not marked on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Resistivivity studies identified two areas of occupation, and excavation (97E0164) revealed black ashy soil from the destruction of the cabins, and a hearth.
