• RO044-044 Road - road/trackway
  Description

  Visible on aerial photographs (GSIAP: M 71-2) at the W edge of a broad plateau. A section of roadway (Wth c. 9m; L c. 500m) defined by two grass-covered stone spreads (Wth 2m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.15-0.3m) runs N-S in interrupted sections but curves slightly to the E at its N and S ends in an area of rough pasture. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

• RO044-049 Windmill
  Description

  Marked as in use on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on the summit of a broad hill. A tapering windmill (ext. diam. of base 6.4m; H 6m) of three storeys. There is a doorway (Wth 1.05m; H 1.85m) at SE with an inscription 'SEP 1818 IN' on the N side of the door jamb. There are two beam-holes for bracing machinery, and a single window on the ground floor. There is a rebate for the first floor which has three plain windows. The second floor was supported on joists set into the wall and has one window. It was conserved in the 1990s.   Description

  On a slight NE-facing slope. Slightly raised circular grass-covered area (diam. 32.5m E-W; 31.3m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (at W: Wth 5.7m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1.4m) and hedge SSW-NNW, reduced to a scarp (H 0.9-1.2m) elsewhere, with a fosse (at SW: Wth of top 8.2m; Wth of base 3.7m; D 0.6m) S-W. There is no identifiable original entrance.   Description

  Ruin of three-stage former windmill, built c.1750, and consolidated c.1990. Stone in door reveal inscribed 'Sep 1818 IN'. Located on an elevated site near Mount Talbot. Site enclosed by stone wall with modern name plaque.
