  Description

  Marked as a circular feature (diam. c. 35m) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map (MA 63), and situated at the crest of the E end of a low ridge. Oval grass-covered area with some bushes (dims c. 30m N-S; c. 20m E-W) defined by a grass and bush-covered stone spread (at W: Wth 4.8m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.5m). • RO008C002 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a gentle N-facing slope. Subcircular scrub-covered area (int. dims 32m E-W; 27m N-S) defined by a flat-topped but overgrown earthen bank (Wth 2.3-4m; int. H 0.8-1.3m; ext. H 1.15-2.8m) with internal facing stones separated by a fosse (Wth of base 2.1-3m; D 0.4-0.9m) from an overgrown outer bank (Wth 1.2-2m; H 0.4-1m).   Description

  On a knoll on a N-facing slope. Oval grass-covered area (dims 26m NE-SW; 19.5m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5-4.2m; int. H 0.2-0.4m; ext. H 1.3-1.4m), which is removed SE-SW. • RO008C004001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a rise on a gentle N-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 22m N-S; 21m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.5m at N to 1.05m at E) with some bushes, and a fosse (Wth of base 3m; D 0.2m) at W. There is no visible entrance, but there is a local tradition of its use as a childrens burial ground (RO008C004002-) (Gannon 1972). Archaeological testing (E3354) c. 35m outside the perimeter at SW produced portion of a pit (RO008C004003-) (diam. c. 1.5m) (Kerrigan 2009c).   Description

  On a rise on a gentle N-facing slope. Archaeological testing (E3354) during 2006 c. 35m outside the perimeter of rath (RO008C004001-) at SW produced portion of a pit with charcoal and an oxidised base (dims 1.72m E-W; 1.2m N-S; D 0.35m).   Description

  Identified in centre-line testing, and excavated (E3356) as Currinah III during 2006 as part of the N5 Charlestown by-pass. Situated in a basin at the base of a N-facing slope. Subcircular pit (dims 2.2m N-S; 1.65m E-W; D 0.1-0.2m) with oxidisation of the base. Charcoal from the fill produced C14 dates of 1644-1470 Cal. BC.
