  Description

  Listed in the SMR (1989) and classified as 'Enclosure'. Not shown on the 1838 edition of the OS map. On the 1914 edition is a short arc of hachures. Upon inspection in 1993 no remains of an enclosure was identified here. The feature depicted on the 1914 map is simply a disused quarry hole adjacent to a field boundary.   Description

  In pasture, near the base of the N-facing slope of a drumlin. A raised circular area (int. diam. 29.5m x 31.5m) defined by a gently sloping scarp (H c. 1m). The N portion of the interior is raised c. 2m to compensate for the hillslope. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
