Description
In pasture, on the N-facing slope of a drumlin. A circular area (int. diam. 21m) enclosed by two earthen banks with an intervening fosse (Wth 4.5m). The inner (Wth 2.3m; int. H 0.8m) and the outer bank (Wth 1.8m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 1m) are evident only along the S, W and N arcs. The entrance is at N with breaks in both the inner (Wth 3m) and the outer (Wth 6m) banks and a causeway across the fosse. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
