Description

- SL020-045001 Ringfort - rath
Description
Located on the N end of a narrow flat-topped hillock in drumlin pasture, overlooking Ballysadare Bay. This is an elongated oval area which encompasses the hilltop. It is enclosed by a ruinous stone wall (Wth 0.60m, H 0.30m) with a fosse ( Wth 6m, D 1.05m) and an external bank (Wth 2m, H 0.20m). The interior of the site slopes from the SW to the NE. There is an entrance in the NE (Wth 1.30m) with a curving ramp (L 29m). In the SW there is a souterrain (SL020-045002-). Compiled by : Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 13 August 2013

Description
Located on the N end of a narrow flat-topped hillock in drumlin pasture, overlooking Ballysadare Bay. In the SW of a platform ringfort (SL020-045002-) is a souterrain. This takes the form of a three segmented zig-zag (L 12.20m by 6.50m). The souterrain extends under the bank of the ringfort and would have opened into the site of the fosse on the S side. Description
Located on a local highpoint in undulating improved pastureland with views onto Knocknarea and the Ox Mountains. Comprises an oval enclosure (L 20m N-S, Wth 15m E-W).
