• KK020-001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (overall diam. c. 42m). On the 1900 revision of this map the W portion is outlined but the monument itself appears to have been levelled. It is not visible on Digitalglobe satellite imagery (viewed 9 November 2020). According to Doyle (1981, unpublished) this was a rath which is, 'no longer there. It is said that it was about thirty yards [c. 27m] wide, with a shallow trench surrounding'.   Description

  In tillage. A small circular enclosure (diam. c. 15m), defined by a fosse which is visible as a cropmark on satellite imagery (Apple Maps), identified and reported by Jean-Charles Caillère. The cropmarks of three conjoined enclosures (KK020-125----; KK020-126----; KK020-127----) are also visible c. 100m to the SE.   Description

  In tillage. A roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m), defined by a fosse which is visible as a cropmark on satellite imagery (Apple Maps), identified and reported by Jean-Charles Caillère. Also visible as cropmarks are two conjoined enclosures, one (KK020-126----) immediately to the N and one (KK020-127----) immediately to the SE. A ring-ditch is located c. 100m to the NW and an enclosure (KK020-011----) lies c. 100m to the ENE.   Description

  In tillage. A curvilinear enclosure (diam. c. 35m), defined by a fosse which is visible as a cropmark on satellite imagery (Apple Maps), identified and reported by Jean-Charles Caillère. A field boundary runs E-W through the S half of the enclosure. Also visible as cropmarks are two conjoined enclosures, one (KK020-125----) is conjoined to the S and the other enclosure (KK020-127----) is immediately to the SE of the latter. A ring-ditch is located c. 100m to the NW and an enclosure (KK020-011----) lies c. 100m to the ENE.
