Description
Detached five-bay two-storey railway station master's house, opened 1893; occupied 1901, on a U-shaped plan with single-bay full-height projecting end bays centred on three-bay single-storey lean-to veranda; four-bay two-storey rear (south) elevation. Closed, 1934. Hipped slate roof on a U-shaped plan with clay ridge tiles, red brick Running bond chimney stacks having corbelled stepped stringcourses below capping supporting terracotta or yellow terracotta pots, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods on box eaves retaining some cast-iron downpipes. Tuck pointed snecked rock faced limestone walls with red brick flush quoins to corners supporting red brick Running bond band to eaves. Square-headed central door opening behind veranda with red brick block-and-start surround having chamfered reveals framing timber panelled door. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, and red brick block-and-start surrounds having chamfered reveals framing two-over-two timber sash windows. Interior including (ground floor): central hall retaining timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors; and timber surrounds to door openings to remainder framing timber panelled doors with timber panelled shutters to window openings. Detached three-bay double-height goods store, commissioned 1893, on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey gabled projecting porch. Decommissioned, 1934. Now disused. Pitched slate roof on a T-shaped plan centred on pitched (gabled) slate roof (porch) with pressed iron-covered roll moulded clay ridge tiles, lichen-covered cut-limestone coping to gables including lichen-covered cut-limestone coping to gable (porch) on drag edged rock faced cut-limestone "Cyma Recta" or "Cyma Reversa" kneelers, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods on timber eaves boards on exposed timber rafters retaining cast-iron octagonal or ogee hoppers and downpipes. Part creeper- or ivy-covered tuck pointed snecked rock faced limestone walls with drag edged rock faced cut- or hammered limestone flush quoins to corners. Square-headed central door opening with red brick block-and-start surround framing timber boarded or tongue-and-groove timber panelled door having overlight. Segmental-headed flanking openings with drag edged tooled cut-limestone block-and-start surrounds framing concrete block infill. Set in landscaped grounds shared with Killala Railway Station.

Detached two-bay (four-bay deep) double-height gable-fronted engine shed, commissioned 1893, on a rectangular plan. Decommissioned, 1934. Reroofed, ----. Now disused. Replacement pitched (gable-fronted) corrugated-iron roof with pressed iron ridge, moss-covered cut-limestone coping to gables, and uPVC rainwater goods on timber eaves boards on exposed timber rafters retaining octagonal hoppers and downpipes. Part creeper- or ivy-covered coursed rubble limestone walls with red brick flush quoins to corners. Pair of round-headed openings with red brick voussoirs framing mass-concrete infill. Roundel (gable) with red brick voussoir surround framing mass-concrete infill. Round-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, and red brick block-and-start surrounds framing concrete block infill. Set in unkempt grounds shared with Killala Railway Station.

Freestanding single-bay single-stage water tower, commissioned 1893, on a square plan. Decommissioned, 1934. Now disused. Part creeper- or ivy-covered walls with red brick flush quoins to corners supporting roundel-detailed cast-iron water tank on red brick Common or English Garden Wall bond corbelled stepped "cornice". Round-headed window opening with cut-limestone sill, and red brick block-and-start surround framing mass-concrete infill. Roundel with red brick voussoir surround framing remains of louvered timber fitting. Set in unkempt grounds shared with Killala Railway Station.

Detached three-bay two-storey over part raised basement house, extant 1798, on a shallow T-shaped plan centred on single-bay full-height breakfront. "Improved", pre-1896, producing present composition. "Restored", 1974-5. Sold, 1996. Hipped slate roof on a T-shaped plan centred on hipped slate roof (breakfront) with clay ridge tiles centred on paired rendered, ruled and lined chimney stacks having corbelled stepped stringcourses below capping supporting terracotta tapered pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on timber eaves boards on rendered cut-limestone eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Part creeper- or ivy-covered replacement cement rendered walls on rendered plinth with rendered strips to corners supporting rendered band to eaves; fine roughcast surface finish to rear (west) elevation. Segmental-headed central door opening approached by platform of three cut-limestone steps, timber doorcase with engaged colonette mullions on padstones supporting shallow cornice on fluted frieze, and rendered "bas-relief" surround framing timber panelled door having sidelights on risers below fanlight. Square-headed window opening in tripartite arrangement (first floor) with cut-limestone sill, engaged colonette mullions, and concealed dressings framing six-over-six timber sash window having two-over-two sidelights. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, and concealed dressings framing six-over-six timber sash windows. Square-headed window openings to rear (west) elevation centred on round-headed window opening (half-landing) with cut-limestone sills, and concealed dressings framing six-over-six timber sash windows centred on six-over-six timber sash window having interlocking Y-tracery glazing bars (half-landing). Interior including (ground floor): central hall retaining carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors; and carved timber surrounds to door openings to remainder framing timber panelled doors with timber panelled shutters to window openings. Set in landscaped grounds.

Roughcast walls bellcast over rendered plinth with rendered quoins to corners. Central door opening with concealed dressings framing timber panelled double doors. Square-headed window opening (half-dormer attic) with drag edged dragged cut-limestone block-and-start surround having chamfered reveals framing two-over-two timber sash windows. Square-headed window openings with rendered block-and-start surrounds having chamfered reveals framing replacement two-over-two sash windows.
