Description
Situated in rough mountainous terrain, on a steep NNE facing slope affording panoramic views over Downpatrick Head and the Atlantic Ocean. Raised circular platform (diam. 18.1m) defined remnants of a bank (Wth 2.1m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.9m) of peat, earth and stone. At the outer foot of the bank is a shallow fosse (Wth 2.3m) with the remains of a low counterscarp bank (Wth 2.25m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.2m), levelled from N-SSE. At NNE a break (Wth 2.25m) in the bank, with traces of an accompanying causeway,represents the original entrance. Description

This house consists of a rectangular area (4.5m ENE-WSW; 3.2m NNW-SSE) defined by a low heather-clad, bank of peat, earth and stone, with a possible entrance at WSW. Description
Attached three-bay two-storey house, extant 1838, on a rectangular plan originally terraced. In alternative use [BANK], 1943. Reroofed, ----. Replacement pitched fibre-cement slate roof with clay ridge tiles terminating in cement rendered chimney stacks having corbelled stepped capping supporting terracotta pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on part ivy-covered eaves retaining cast-iron downpipe. Part ivy-covered roughcast walls. Square-headed central door opening with concealed dressings framing replacement timber panelled door having overlight. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, and concealed dressings framing two-over-two timber sash windows. Street fronted with tarmacadam footpath to front.
