  Description

  Detached four-bay two-storey country house with dormer attic, dated 1902; rebuilt 1906-7; complete 1909; occupied 1911, on a U-shaped plan about a courtyard with two-bay (four-bay deep) three-storey projecting end bays; four-bay two-storey rear (west) elevation. Vacated, 1960. Sold, 1964. In alternative use, 1965-2005. Sold, 2005. Now disused. Interior including (ground floor): vestibule; camber-headed opposing openings into hall with moulded archivolts; double-height hall retaining carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors, timber panelled staircase on a dog leg plan with fluted timber balusters supporting carved timber banister terminating in final-topped chamfered timber newels, camber-headed opposing openings to landing with moulded archivolts, and coved ceiling on moulded plasterwork cornice; drawing room (south-west) retaining carved timber surround to door opening framing timber panelled door with carved timber surround to opposing window opening framing timber panelled reveals or shutters on panelled risers, and plasterwork cornice to ceiling; dining room (north-west) retaining carved timber Classical-style surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors with carved timber surround to opposing window opening framing timber panelled reveals or shutters on panelled risers, and dentilated run moulded plasterwork cornice to ceiling on decorative plasterwork frieze; and carved timber surrounds to door openings to remainder framing timber panelled doors with carved timber surrounds to window openings framing timber panelled reveals or shutters on panelled risers. Set in unkempt landscaped grounds with drag edged tooled cut-limestone chamfered piers to courtyard having lichen-covered polygonal capping supporting rosette-detailed wrought iron double gates.

  Detached three-bay single-storey head gardener's house with half-dormer attic, occupied 1911, on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey gabled projecting porch. Now disused. Hipped gabled slate roof on a T-shaped plan centred on pitched (gabled) slate roof (poprch), lichen-covered clay ridge tiles centred on rendered chimney stack having stepped capping supporting terracotta pots, timber bargeboards to gables on timber purlins, and cast-iron rainwater goods on timber eaves boards on timber boarded eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Fine roughcast walls with red brick Running bond stringcourse centred on red brick flush quoins to corners (porch). Camber-headed central door opening with red brick voussoirs framing timber panelled door having overlight. Square-headed flanking window openings with cut-limestone sills, and red brick block-and-start surrounds framing timber casement windows. Set in walled garden in unkempt grounds shared with Castlemacgarrett.

  Description

  Five-arch hump back road bridge over river, extant 1838. Disused, 2003. "Restored", 2009. Repointed walls centred on triangular cutwaters to piers to upriver (east) elevation on shuttered mass concrete battered bases with replacement parapets having hardcore gravel-encrusted rendered rounded coping. Series of five round arches with repointed voussoirs. Set in unkempt grounds shared with Castlemacgarrett spanning Robe River with overgrown banks to river.

  Description

  Single-arch road bridge over river, extant 1838. Now disused. Creeper- or ivy-covered walls with overgrown coping to parapets. Single segmental arch with limestone ashlar voussoirs. Set in unkempt grounds shared with Castlemacgarrett spanning Robe River with overgrown banks to river.

• Castlemacgarrett, icehouse, 1805–1815 · Regional interest
  Description

  Freestanding single-bay single-stage gable-fronted icehouse, dated 1810, on a rectangular plan. Now disused. Turf-covered pitched (gable-fronted) roof. Coursed rubble limestone walls with hammered limestone flush quoins to corners. Square-headed door opening with inscribed cut-limestone threshold ("1810"), and dragged cut-limestone monolithic surround with no fittings surviving. Interior including vaulted ice store on a circular plan with red brick English bond walls. Set in mound in unkempt grounds shared with Castlemacgarrett.

  Detached three-bay single-storey gate lodge with half-dormer attic, dated 1916, on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey gabled projecting porch. Renovated, ----, to accommodate continued private residential use. Hipped gabled slate roof on a T-shaped plan centred on pitched (gabled) slate roof (porch), cement rendered central chimney stack having concrete capping supporting terracotta pots, timber bargeboards to gables, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods on timber eaves boards on timber boarded eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Replacement cement rendered walls on rendered chamfered plinth with red brick Running bond stringcourse centred on red brick flush quoins to corners (porch). Square-headed central door opening below embossed date stone ("1916") with dragged cut-limestone monolithic surround framing replacement glazed uPVC panelled door having overlight. Square-headed flanking window opening (south) or square-headed flanking window opening in bipartite arrangement (north), dragged cut-limestone sills, and dragged cut-limestone monolithic surrounds framing replacement uPVC casement windows. Square-headed window openings (remainder) with dragged cut-limestone sills, and red brick block-and-start surrounds framing replacement uPVC casement windows. Set in landscaped grounds at entrance to Castlemacgarrett.
