Description
In pasture, located on a natural terrace on a NW facing slope, overlooking the flood plain of the Cloonalaghan River. There is gently undulating terrain to S−SW, and higher ground to SE. A slightly raised, circular area (21.2m NE-SW; 21m NW-SE) defined by a stony earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.2-0.3m; ext. H 0.4m at E, 1.8m at W). The bank at W−N coincides with a natural break of slope, and has a pronounced external slope. It has been incorporated into a field fence/townland boundary, and with remnants of stone facing visible in parts. Elsewhere around the circuit, the bank is low, and defaced by farm stock. An internal division, in the form of a low bank (Wth 0.85m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.35m) of earth and stone, defines the SE quadrant, which appears to be at a slightly higher level than the rest of interior. Clumps of gorse and brambles grow in the interior and on the perimeter, and are particularly at SW-S. There is another rath (MA015-011----) 30m to SE. - MA015-011 Ringfort - rath
Description
In pasture, on elevated ground on the W side of a N-S ridge; ground falls away to W overlooking the flood plain of the Cloonalaghan River; to E ground rises gradually. This possible rath is not shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map, but is indicated on the 1922 edition as a roughly oval area bisected centrally by road on an N−S axis. The central portion (Wth c. 7m) of the enclosure has been largely destroyed by the road which is flanked by field walls; a gentle rise/undulation in the road surface appears to mirror the original contours of the enclosure. The E and W arcs of the enclosure can still be traced in the fields on either side of the road. In the field to W of the road, there is an arc of raised ground (25m N-S; 5.4m E-S) defined on its outer edge by a stony earthen bank (Wth 2.9m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.2m). In the field to E, there appears to be a corresponding arc of bank, but the remains are severely degraded (H c. 0.3m), and are clipped at N end by an E-W property fence. A rath (MA015-010----) is located c. 30 m to NW. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 November 2018
- MA015-012 Enclosure
Description
In pasture, located on a terrace overlooked c. 30m to the E side by a rocky escarpment (H 2-3m), and defined at W by a broadly sloping fall of ground, giving good views over a broad expanse of lowlying coastal pasture. Shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a circular ringfort-sized enclosure, and on the 1922 edition as a D-shaped enclosure (diam. 25-30m) bordered on the straight side to S by a field boundary. This enclosure was levelled during land reclamation. There is no visible trace at ground level. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 13 November 2018

Description
In improved pasture, located on a broad level terrace on a NW-facing slope, which provides good views to S and W over undulating pasture, and to N over flat esturine lands at the S end of Lackan Bay. It is located close to the S boundary of the townland. Raised circular area (23.8m N-S; 22m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.2m at NW, 0.65m at SE) and enclosed by an external fosse (Wth c. 3m), which is evident as a shallow surface depression. Stones protrude from the top of the bank in parts. The bank is noticeably lower at the NE, but there is no clearly defined entrance feature. There is a narrow eroded break (Wth 0.6m) at SW. The interior is level; there is a small, grass-covered rise (Diam. c. 2m; H 0.3m), probably a field clearance heap, slightly E of centre.
