Description
On a N-facing slope at the S edge of a bog. This is thought locally to have been built by the Newcommen family who moved here from Newcommen Castle (RO051-071----) c. 1700. The SW angle of a two-storey house (L 8.8m at S; 4.6m at W) with a brick fireplace and brick internal arches. Probably 18th-century in date. Description

Description
At the E edge of a slight plateau. Subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 25m N-S; 21.3m E-W) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2-3m; H 0.4-0.6m) SE-W-NW backing on to a natural slope down at E (H 2.5m). There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. The perimeter is incorporated into field walls at S and W and truncated by an E-W field wall at N. The childrens' burial ground (RO050-018001-), a low rectangular, stone-covered mound (dims 10.7m N-S; 5.5m; H 0.2-0.4m) is at the centre. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
