• RO009-015 Barrow - ring-barrow
  Description

  On a low rise. Subcircular grass-covered platform (diam. 26.5m N-S; 24.5m E-W; H 0.45-0.7m) defined by three rush-covered fosses and three grass-covered outer banks, of which only the outermost has bushes. The inner fosse (Wth of base 3.5-3.9m; ext. D 0.6-1m) is separated by a bank (Wth 3.5-4.8m; H 0.8-1.4m) from the middle fosse (Wth of base 3.9-4.7m). This fosse is separated by the middle bank (Wth 3.5-5m; H 0.8-1.2m) from the outer fosse (Wth of base 4-4.6m; ext. D 0.5-1.25m). The outer bank (at W: Wth 3.2m; ext. H 0.8m; at E: Wth 5.5m; ext. H 1.2m) which survives SW-NW and ENE-E. The outer bank is incorporated into a field bank SE-SW, and this field bank is also built in the outer fosse SW-NW.   Description

  On a flat low-lying landscape with an ESE-WNW stream curving around the perimeter S-NW. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 24.5m E-W; 23.5m N-S) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes (at N: Wth 4.4m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.6m) W-WNW and N-E, with a fosse (Wth of base 2.4-3.4m; D 0.3-0.5m) NW-E-S. The stream occupies the site of the fosse S-NW, but there is no visible entrance. • RO009-017 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On top of an E-W ridge. Circular overgrown platform (diam. 29m; H 1.5-2.1m) separated by a fosse (Wth of base 6-6.3m; D 1.2-1.35m) from an earthen bank (Wth 5.2-6.7m; ext. H 1.5-1.8m), which is separated by a second fosse (Wth of base 3.7-4m; D 0.8-1.3m) from an outer bank (Wth 4.8-5.2m; H 1-1.5m). There is no visible entrance, and a drainage ditch circumscribes the outer bank W-NE (max. ext. diam. c. 65m). Rath (RO009-041----) is c. 190m to the SE, on the S side of an E-W stream.
