• RO038-016 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On the NE-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 34.8m N-S; 36.4m E-W) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes (Wth 4.9-6m; int. H 0.2-0.3m; ext. H 1.5-1.7m), which is best preserved (Wth 10.8m; int. H 1.05m; ext. H 2.05m) SSE-SW where it might be augmented with spoil from a quarry at SE, but the perimeter is reduced to a scarp (H 1m) NE-ESE. There is a complete outer fosse (Wth of top 6-6.4m; Wth of base 1.7-3.5m; D 0.1-0.5m), which is most massive (Wth of top 9.7m; D 1.4m) SSE-SW, but there is no identifiable original entrance. • RO038-017 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  At the crest of the SW-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims c. 23.2m E-W; 19.7m N-S) defined by a flat-bottomed fosse (Wth of top 9.8-10.2m; Wth of base 5.7-8m; int. D 1-1.4m; ext. D 1.2-1.6m) and an outer scrub-covered bank (Wth 3-4m; ext. H 0.7-1m) N-SE. The perimeter is defined elsewhere by an overgrown NNE-SSW field bank at W and an overgrown WNW-ESE field bank at S. There is no identifiable original entrance, but a ramp of material (Wth 2.5m; L 3.5m) attached to the interior at SE suggests that the edge of the interior has been quarried. • RO038-018 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On the crest of a NW-SE ridge. Circular overgrown area (diam. c. 25m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.2m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.25m) NNE-S-NW, which has been quarried elsewhere, and a complete outer fosse (Wth of base 3m; D 0.1-0.5m). There is an outer bank (Wth 2.7m; ext. H 0.55m) or field bank S-NW, but there is no identifiable original entrance.   Description

  At the crest of the S-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge. Subcircular grass and rush-covered area (dims 26m E-W; 21.6m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.8-6m; int. H 0.25-0.5m; ext. H 0.7-1.25m) which has been removed E-S, and a rounded fosse (Wth of top 5.2-5.8m; Wth of base 1.3m; D 0.3-0.4m) WSW-NW. The entrance (Wth 1.3m) is at NE, and there is a quarry on the perimeter E-SE. • RO038-020 Quarry
  Description

  Marked only on the 1927 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a D-shaped quarry (dims c. 30m E-W; c. 25m N-S), and situated on a gentle N-facing slope. This is an irregularly-shaped area (dims c. 38m E-W; c. 32.5m N-S) with bushes which is sunken (D c. 0.7m) and has an irregular surface in the interior.   Description

  Towards the top of the gentle S-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 39.6m N-S; 35.5m E-W) defined by a poached earthen bank with bushes (Wth 3.5-4.2m; int. H 0.15-0.8m; ext. H 0.8-1.2m). There is no visible fosse, but the entrance (Wth 1.6m) is at E. Raths (RO038-019----) and (RO038-022----) are c. 65m to the WSW and c. 170m to the E respectively.   Description

  On a gentle SE-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge. Circular grass-covered platform (diam. 30.5m N-S; 30.2m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5.2m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 1.5m) NW-NE and a scarp (H 1.1m at E to 1.9m at W) elsewhere, with a rounded fosse (Wth of top 4.8-7.9m; Wth of base 1.4-1.6m; D 0.1-0.35m) NW-E-SSW and an outer bank (Wth 3.7m; H 0.2m) NW-ENE. There is an entrance and causeway (Wth 8m) at SE and a small grass-covered clearance cairn (dims 4m x 2m; H 0.2-0.35m) is just S of the centre.   Description

  On a gentle S-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge. Described as a subcircular area (dims 32m E-W; 28.5m N-S) defined by an earthen bank and a slight outer fosse (Gannon 1972). It is now an arc (C 19.5m) of an earthen bank (Wth 3.6m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.9m) and a fosse (Wth of base 2m; D 0.1m) SW-NW.   On a gentle S-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge. Described as an oval area (dims 42m E-W; 29m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Gannon 1972). It is now a circular grass-covered area (diam. 26m E-W; 24m N-S) defined by a slight scarp (H 0.2-0.5m). Raths (RO038-022----) and (RO038-023----) are c. 150m to the NW and c. 100m to the WSW.   On a rise in a low-lying landscape. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 36.4m E-W; 35.2m N-S) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes (at S: Wth 3.9m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1.9m; at W: Wth 7.4m; int. H 1.4m; ext. H 2m) S-W-NNE, and a rounded fosse (Wth of top 6.5-7.4m; Wth of base 2.8-3.1m; D 0.45m-0.9m) S-N-ESE. There is no identifiable original entrance.
