Description
At the SW-facing crest of a broad NW-SE esker. Subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 34.7m NW-SE; 31m NE-SW) sloping down to the SE, defined by an overgrown earth and stone bank (Wth 5-7m; int. H 0.4-1.2m; ext. H 2-2.8m) with an outer fosse (Wth of top 9-11m; Wth of base 2.5-4m; D 1-1.2m), and an outer bank (at NW: Wth 4m; ext. H 1m) which does not survive NW-NE and SE-SW. There is an entrance (Wth 2m) through the inner bank at SE. A NE-SW stone wall bisects the interior and traces of a stone wall survive on the inner bank at S. Description
On the N-facing crest of a broad NW-SE esker. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 63.6m N-S; 61m E-W) sloping down to the E and N, defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (Wth 5.3-6.7m; int. H 0.2-0.4m; ext. H 0.6m at S to 1.4m at N), which is reduced to a scarp (H 1-1.5m) N-SE. The fosse (Wth of top 6m; Wth of base 2.7m; D 0.3m) survives only at NNW (L c. 10m). Description
Marked only on the 1915 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a slight rise in a low-lying landscape. This is a rectangular scrub-covered platform (dims of top 15.5m E-W; 8.7m N-S; dims of base 18.7m E-W; 10.3m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.1m at N to 0.6m at S) with some grave-markers protruding from the mound. Description
Granite gate piers with cast-iron gates and railings, erected c.1930, once affording access to Correen House, but now giving access to Coilte forest. Central octagonal-profiled piers with blind arrow loops support cast-iron gates with double axe and spear-headed finials. Cast-iron railings sweep to outer square-profiled granite piers with chamfered corners. Stone wheel guards to inner piers.
