  Description

  Towards the top of the NW-facing slope of a drumlin. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims. 31m E-W; 27m N-S) defined by a gapped earthen bank (Wth 1.5m at W to 2.3m at E; int. H 0.2m generally to 0.65m at NE and SE; ext. H 0.6m at W to 1.3m at NE) with trees which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.65-0.9m) at WNW and N and incorporated into a field bank SE-S. There is no visible fosse or entrance. Rath (RO011-024----) is c. 170m to ENE, and rath (RO011-026----) is c. 190m to the SE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

• RO011-024001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Towards the top of the N-facing slope of a drumlin. Circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 26.5m N-S) defined by a slight but overgrown earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 1m) NE-SE and a scarp (H 0.7m at S to 1.1m at NE) elsewhere, with an outer fosse (Wth of base 2-3m; D 0.2-0.35m) NE-E-SW visible as a band of wet ground (Wth 3.5m) elsewhere. There is no identifiable original entrance, but a house site (RO011-024001-) (int. dims 2.2m E-W; 2m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1-1.2m; int. H 0.1-0.5m; ext. H 0.3-0.8m) is immediately outside the bank at E. Rath (RO011-025----) is c. 70m to the ESE, rath (RO011-027----) is c. 150m to the SE, rath (RO011-026----) is c. 160m to the S, and rath (RO011-023----) is c. 170m to the WSW.   Description

  At the crest of the NE-facing slope of a drumlin. Subcircular overgrown area (dims 31.5m N-S; 28m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4-5.6m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.3-1.4m) SW-NW and a scarp (H 1m at S to 1.6m at E) elsewhere, with traces of a fosse (Wth of base 3.1-3.5m; D 0.25m) visible as lush vegetation N-E. There is an entrance (Wth 1.3m) at SE. • RO011-026 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Towards the bottom of the S-facing slope of a drumlin. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 34m N-S; 32m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5.5-6.35; int. H 0.6m at E to 1.1m at N; ext. H 0.9-1.5m) WSW-N-ESE which is incorporated into a field bank WSW-NW, and a scarp (H 0.8m) elsewhere. There is an outer fosse (Wth of top 4.4-5.85m; Wth of base 1.7-2.85m; D 0.2-0.6m) NNW-E which is re-cut as a drain SW-NNW and E-S, but there is no visible entrance. Raths (RO011-023----); (RO011-024001-), (RO011-025----), and (RO011-027----) are c. 190m to the NW, c. 160m to the N, c. 140m to the NE and c. 80m to the ENE, respectively.   Towards the bottom of the S-facing slope of a drumlin. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 30.7m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.2m at E to 4.2m at W; int. H 0.15m at NW to 0.6m at N; ext. H 0.15m at NW to 0.75m at N) W-N-SE and a scarp (H 0.2m-0.4m) elsewhere, with an outer fosse (Wth of top 2.4m; Wth of base 1.3m; D 0.4m) N-NE. There is no visible entrance.
