  Description

  The parish church of Kilteevan is situated on a gentle S-facing slope. It was impropriate to the abbey of Cloontuskert at the Suppression (O'Flanagan 1931, vol. 1, 49). Rectangular structure (int. dims 11.3m E-W; 6.3m N-S), of which only the E wall with an elaborate single-light (Wth 0.4m) cusped ogee-headed window (Leask 1943, 150-1) and an aumbry, and the N wall (H 3.25m) with a blocked and probably inserted window (Wth 0.5m; H 1.3m) towards its E end survive complete. The E end of the S wall with a simple light (H 1.2m) also survives, and the W wall (max. H 1.3m) is featureless. The church is at the N end of a raised oval graveyard (RO040-032002-) (dims c. 80m N-S; c. 56m E-W) defined by a stone-clad scarp (H 0.4m at N to 1.7m at S). The head of a cross, probably a finial cross, was found in the graveyard in 1989.   Description

  In a low-lying, level landscape. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 32.7m NW-SE; 27.7m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 4m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.7m) with some bushes and an outer fosse (Wth of top 4.2m; Wth of base 1.8m; D 0.2m) SSE-W, and by an earthen bank (Wth of base 2.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.3m) ENE-ESE. The perimeter can scarcely be traced elsewhere, being occupied by the enclosure of the mass-rock (RO040-034003) at NW. There is no identifiable original entrance, but there is a rectangular annexe (RO040-034002-) (dims 8-9m NW-SE; 30m NE-SW) defined by a slight scarp (H 02-0.5m) and traces of a bank at the E end of the NW side (L 12.4m) attached to the NW.   Description

  Inside the perimeter of rath (RO040-034001-) at N. Two flat-topped limestone boulders set side by side (dims 1.35m x 0.6m; H 0.6m) are within an oval enclosure (dims 9.5m NE-SW; 6.6m NW-SE) defined by large slabs (dims c. 0.6m x 0.2m; H 1.2m) set on end. A masonry pier (dims 1.35m x 0.95m; H 2m) containing a niche with a statue and a stoup, and a modern latin cross, are within the enclosure. Four meters to the S is a circular grass-covered mound (diam. 7.5m; H 0.35-0.4m), with slight traces of a fosse (Wth of base 1.4m; ext. D 0.05-0.1m) at W. They are probably tree-rings.   Description

  Detached T-plan former Roman Catholic church, built c.1830, with three-bay nave, sacristy to north and entrance porch to south. Now in use as a parish hall. Pitched slate roof with bellcote to south flanked by stone pinnacles. Roughcast-rendered walls with tooled limestone quoins. Pointed-arched windows with chamfered tooled limestone surrounds and replacement windows. Pointed-arched door opening with chamfered tooled limestone surround and replacement timber door. Stone font beside door. Blocked up door to other side of entrance porch. Door openings to south elevation with hood mouldings. Coursed rubble boundary wall with limestone gate piers and decorative iron gates.
