  Description

  On a S-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 36m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.6m at W to 6.8m at E; int. H 0.35-1m; ext. H 1-1.5m) with traces of internal and external facing stones, and an outer fosse (Wth of base 6m; D 0.5m) N-SE. The stone-lined entrance (Wth 2.2m) is at E.   Description

  On a S-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 35.5m N-S; 34m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.3-3.5m; int. H 0.2-0.8m; ext. H 0.3-0.6m) N-E-S and a scarp (H 0.4-0.5m) elsewhere, with a fosse (Wth of base 2.5m; D 0.3-0.4m) WSW-NW. It is overlain by a relict NE-SW field wall towards the perimeter at SE. • RO015-037001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Marked only on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a slight E-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 42m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.3-3.8m; int. H 0.2-0.8m; ext. H 0.6-0.8m) S-W-N and by a scarp (H 1m) elsewhere. There is no visible fosse or entrance, but the perimeter is circumvented by a farm lane S-W. The 'Cave' marked on the OS 6-inch map as inside the perimeter at S and described as artificial (OS Name Books) is undoubtedly a souterrain (RO015-037002-), but it cannot be seen now. • RO015-038 Well
  Description

  Marked similarly on the 1837 and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and described in gothic lettering as 'Tobernavean' meaning the bird's well on both. Situated on level ground at the source of the Carricnabraher River which flows off to the E and N. This is a rectangular well (dims 1m NNE-SSW; 0.85m WNW-ESE) defined by concrete walls (T 0.2m) with a gate on the N side. There is a pump-house nearby.   Description

• RO015-069001 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  Towards the top of a NE-facing slope. D-shaped grass-covered area (int. dims 35m NW-SE; 9.5m NE-SW) defined by the foundations of a stone wall with facing stones (Wth 1.7m) NW-ESE. The site is truncated by a NW-SE stone wall at SW and does not survive SW of this, apart from bands of boulders or spoil (Wth 3m) ESE-SE and SSW-NNW (int. diam. c. 35m NW-SE; c. 35m NW-SE). A hut-site (RO016-069002-) (ext. diam. 3.8m; int. diam. 3m) defined by a wall footing (Wth 0.3m) survives inside the perimeter at NE. Rath (RO015-037001-) is c. 100m to the E.
