• RO006-131003 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  On a shelf on the N-facing slope of a ridge with a working quarry c. 60m to the N and c. 60m to the W. Circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 30.5m) defined by an overgrown stone spread (Wth 2.6-5.3m; H 0.2-0.6m) which is rebuilt in places, but there is no visible entrance. A circular grass-covered cairn (RO006-131006-) (diam. 7m; H 0.2-3m) S of the centre may be a hut-site, although there is a tradition of its use as a childrens burial ground. Cashel (RO006-131001-) is c. 70m to the WSW, and cashel (RO006-132----) is c. 200m to the ENE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

  Description

  On a shelf on the N-facing slope of a ridge with a working quarry to the N. Circular grass-covered cairn (diam. 7m; H 0.2-3m) S of the centre of cahsel (RO006-131003-) may be a hut-site, although there is a tradition of its use as a childrens burial ground.   Description

  On the N-facing slope of a ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 26.5m E-W; 25m N-S) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 2.2m at S to 4.2m at E; int. H 0.1-0.35m; ext. H 0.25-0.5m) E-NW and a scarp (H 1-1.1m) elsewhere. A WNW-ESE field wall and townland boundary with Rathdiveen overlies the site just N of the centre. Cashel (RO006-131003-) is c. 200m to the WSW. • RO006-135001 Barrow - ring-barrow
  Description

  Marked only on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on top of an E-W ridge. Circular grass-covered platform (diam. 6.5m E-W; 5.5m N-S; H 0.1-0.3m) defined by a fosse (Wth of top 3.2-3.8m; D 0.1-0.35m) SE-W-NE, and an outer bank (Wth 2.1m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.2-0.3m) SE-S and at NE. Barrow (RO006-135002-) is 10m to the WNW. These monuments are particularly visible on Google Earth (18/03/2019).   Description

  On top of an E-W ridge. Circular, round-topped and grass-covered earthen mound (diam. 5-5.5m; H 0.5-0.95m). Ring-barrow (RO006-135001-) is c. 10m to the ESE. These monuments are particularly visible on Google Earth (18/03/2015). Archaeological testing (15E0105) c. 20m to the W produced no related material (Quinn 2015).
