H 0.4-1.2m), and traces of a rounded fosse (at N: Wth of top 6.1m; Wth of base 3.1m; D 0.25m at N) SW-N-E which is circumscribed by a field bank WSW-NNW. There are entrances at E (Wth 2m), WSW (Wth 2.4m) and S (Wth 2.8m), the last probably being the original. The possible rath (RO039-023----) is c. 110m to the S. H 0.3m; ext. H 1m), with a fosse or moat at W (Wth of top 4m; Wth of base 1m; D 0.4m) and S (Wth of top 3m; Wth of base 1.2m; int. D 1.7m; ext. D 0.8m). The E side is defined by a scarp (H 0.7m) separated by a berm (Wth 3.5m) from a N-S field bank. There are modern entrances at W and at the W end of the S side. • RO040-002 Castle - unclassified
  Description

  Marked as a rectangular building (dims c. 15m NW-SE; c. 10m NE-SW) on the 1837 ed. of th OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a castle, and as the site of a castle on the 1914 ed. It is situated on a slight rise in a low-lying landscape, but there is no known history. This is a rectangular grass-covered stony platform (dims 10.8m NW-SE; 8.5m NE-SW; H 0.3-0.5m) with a quarry (dims c. 50m NW-SE; 10m NW-SE; D up to 1.8m) immediately to the SW.   Description

  On a slight N-facing slope. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 32.3m N-S; 30.5m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.4m) that is slightly truncated by a N-S hedge at W and an E-W hedge at S.   Description

  At the NE end of a small rise. Circular grass-covered platform (diam. 37.2m N-S; 36.4m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.9-1.4m), with a hedge on the perimeter NNE-ESE, and a slight rounded fosse (Wth of top 4.3-5m; Wth of base 1.8-5.5m; D 0.05-0.1m) SW-NNE.   Description

  Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 30m) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as an arc of field bank on the 1914 ed. Situated on a gentle NE-facing slope. An arc (C 25.6m) of an overgrown earthen bank (at S: Wth 4m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.9m) survives SE-W-NNW. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. In 1976 the bank survived SE-W-NE, with traces of an outer fosse at NE (SMR file). Rath (RO040-005----) is c. 90m to the NW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 3 January 2013

  Description

  On a slight W-facing slope. Rectangular grass-covered platform (dims 42.2m E-W; 41.5m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank at N (Wth 3.6m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.2m) and complete flat-bottomed overgrown fosses or moats (Wth of base 2.8-3.2m; D 0.4-1m).   Description

  Marked as a D-shaped embanked area (dims. c. 35m E-W; c. 35m N-S) with a straight field bank at E on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and as a fragment of a bank (C c. 25m W-NE) on the 1914 ed. Situated on a gentle S-facing slope, and described as a length of an earth and stone bank and fosse (Gannon 1972). It is not visible at ground level in pasture.   Marked as an oval embanked enclosure (ext. dims. c. 45m E-W; c. 30m N-S) on the 1837 and 1914 eds. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a gentle S-facing slope. Described as an oval area defined by an earthen bank and fosse and traces of an outer bank (Gannon 1972). It is now a circular grass-covered area (diam. 43m E-W; 41m N-S) defined by a band of lusher vegetation. Rath (RO040-008----) is c. 65m to the W.
