Description
In pasture, on a low rise. A raised circular area (26m N-S), truncated on its W edge by a field boundary giving an E-W dimension of 20m. The interior is defined by a scarp (H 0.8m). The external fosse (Wth 8m; D 0.6m) is evident along the N arc. The perimeter of the rath has been quarried into in parts. The interior slopes gently down to E. Description
In pasture, on a rise. A raised oval area (c. 40m NW-SE; c. 27m NE-SW) defined by a scarp (H 1m). The interior is bisected by an ENE-WSW field boundary; the S half slopes down to SE, steeply at first with a more gentle slope closer to the edge. There is a hut site (SL032-123002-) in the SE quadrant. A limekiln was indicated in the vicinity of this rath on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. Description
On flat dry pasture, above bogland to S. A raised circular area (21m N-S) defined by an inner flat-topped earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 1m; ext. H 2.9m) SW-SSE and by a scarp (H 1.3m) elsewhere. An external flat-bottomed dry fosse (Wth 8.5m) is evident SSE-ENE. A low earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.3m) follows the outer edge of the fosse SSW-NW. Large stones are incorporated into the inner earthen bank. The entrance (Wth c. 1.8m) is at E, revetted on its S side by large boulders. The interior slopes down to S. A NNW-SSE field boundary crosses the E half of the interior. The W two-thirds of the rath are under grass while the E third, to E of the field boundary, is overgrown with bushes and has coniferous trees planted along its edge. There is a souterrain (SL032-125002-) in the W half of the interior. In pasture, on top of a low rise. A raised oval area (24m N-S; 28m E-W) defined by grass-covered foundations of a drystone wall (Wth c. 1.6m; int. H 0.4m) along the N, E, and S arcs. An earthen bank along the W arc is revetted by a drystone wall on both the inner and outer faces. The entrance (Wth 2.2m) is at SE. In pasture, on top of a low rise. A raised circular area (17.8m E-W) defined by tumbled foundations of a drystone wall (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.3m) along the E and S arcs and by a scarp (H 0.5m) along the W and NE arcs with numerous loose stones along its edge. There is a terrace (Wth 2.5m; H 0.5m) at the base of the scarp along the W arc. The remains of a disused field boundary extend to SW from the cashel. There are foundations of a rectangular hut site (SL032-127002-) in the NE quadrant of the interior. In pasture, on the steep E-facing slope of a rise. This rath has been levelled. The remains consist of a circular area (20m E-W) defined by a low earthen bank (Wth 4.7m; int. H 0.1m; ext. Description
In pasture, on the summit of a drumlin. A lintel (L 1.6m; max. Wth 0.59m; max. T 0.32m) was uncovered during ploughing, exposing a passage (L 0.94m E-W). The passage consists of a trench (Wth c. 1.7m), lined on both sides by drystone-walling and roofed by lintels. The passage is filled with a deposit of soil which extends to within 0.2m of the underside of the lintels. The soil has been dug away by the landowner in places to a depth of 1m. The stratigraphy consists of dark topsoil overlying a grey-brown silt and gravel. The passage appears to extend downhill to W. Above the lintels is a layer (T 0.12m) of stones.
