  Description

  Situated at the SW end of a NE-SW ridge in an upland area. A natural rise of ground has been shaped at N to form an oval area (9m N-S; 13m SW-NE) defined by a scarp (H 1.3-0.3m) with evidence of rows of uninscribed grave-markers orientated on a N-S axis. The OS Namebooks (c. 1840) describe the site as 'Kyle: a small burying ground for stillborn children'. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002).   Description

  Situated on a hillock in an upland area. The barely discernible outline of a possible bank at W is all that survives of this earthwork marked on the OS 6-inch map. Depicted as a rectangular grove of trees on the 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map and not as an antiquity. Possibly a landscape feature associated with nearby Annaholty House. • TN031-090 Road - unclassified togher
  Description

  During resurfacing of the Limerick-Dublin road in 1950 an old timber road or togher was discovered running underneath in an area of bog. The togher is described as consisting of 'whole trees or branches, 6in to 1ft [0.15-0.3m] in diameter, laid side by side. The length of each unit varied from about 5 to 7ft [1.5-2.1m]. The ends showed evidence of having been half cut with an axe-like instrument and then broken by bending. In some cases the ends were roughly pointed. In most instances the bark had been stripped or rotted away, but traces still adhered to a few of the smaller-diameter units. The timbers were soft and waterlogged shen removed and bore no discernible marks of wheels. A number of other small pieces of timber were removed including wedges and pegs' (Hanrahan 1950, 64).
