  Description

  Situated on high ground in an upland area overlooking a river to the E. A low circular platform (diam. 24m approx.) defined by a scarp (H 0.4m) with no evidence of a fosse or entrance feature.   Description

  Situated on a SW-facing slope of rising ground in a mountainous region. Depicted on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map as a small circular enclosure transected by a townland boundary and described in an OS Field Memorandum (1938, A/217/44,46) as being a tumulus 15ft (4.57m) in diameter and 1ft (0.3m) high. Not visible at ground level. Three large contiguous stones, two of which are lying flat are indicated on the latest ed. OS 6-inch map as 'Dolmen (Remains of)' and are classified as megalithic tomb possible (25:29/02). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. • TN025-029002 Megalithic tomb - unclassified
  Description

  Situated on undulating ground at the SW foot of the Arra Mountains. The feature, densely overgrown by bushes and briars, is a line of three large stones, two of them prostrate while the largest, 2.2m in maximum dimension, is possibly set on edge. The origin of these stones is uncertain but it is doubtful if they formed part of a megalithic tomb. According to an OS Field Memorandum (1938, A/217/44,46) the stones are on a 'lios' while an OS Name Book (1938) states that they are on a tumulus (TN029-025001) but no clear indication of such a feature can be discerned in the heavy growth. • TN025-030 Standing stone
  Description

  Situated on SW facing slope of rising ground in upland area overlooking stream 15m to W. Unable to locate possible monument due to dense cover of furze bushes in area where monument has been marked as a 'Gallán' on revised 25-inch OS map. Area where stone is marked on 25-inch map has been excluded from adjacent forestry plantation. This area is now partially covered with furze and thorn bushes making it impossible to locate the monument. The possible monument was described in 1972 as a recumbent stone (2' 6" [0.76m] high x 5' [1.5m] long x 3' [0.91m] thick) which 'appears to have been artificially set into the ground on its edge, there is no recent break in the stone. I do not know the explanation of its appearance, but doubt if it is or was a standing stone' (SMR File 12/06/1972).   Description

  Modern coniferous forestry plantation located in area where possible burial mound is marked on OS 6-inch map. Unable to locate presence of burial mound inside forestry plantation where monument is marked on the OS 6-inch map. Monument described in 1972 as ‘a small artificial mound (not shown on the map) about 3 ft [0.9m] high x 10 paces overall (roughly circular) diameter. It looks like a burial mound of some kind. It is grass-covered and not apparently stony. It lies approximately 123 paces N.E. of a boulder marked ‘Gallaun’ [TN025-030----] on the 25 inch map, but not shown on the current 6 inch map’ (SMR File 12/06/1972).
