• TS077-028 Enclosure
  Description

  On a NE-facing slope, just below crest of hill on a break of slope. The slope is quite steep beyond the enclosure which is under tillage. Donaghmore church (TS077-027001-) is visible 1.5km to the NE. Monument levelled but still visible as an oval area (diam. 46m N-S; 39.3m E-W) defined by a very gradual scarp (Wth 0.8m; H 0.7m). • TS077-047 Enclosure
  Description

  On gradual E-facing slope in generally undulating terrain, under tillage. Enclosure (TS077-050----) would have been visible to S. Monument depicted as circular area (dims. c. 47.5m) on 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map. No visible trace of monument above ground. Enclosure showed up as a circular cropmark on aerial photograph (CUCAP July 1970 BDR 68), indicating the former fosse. A large gap in the fosse in the NE quadrant probably indicated a former causewayed entrance. There is a pond immediately W of the enclosure. The field boundaries to W and S have been levelled. • TS077-050 Enclosure
  Description

  On a very gentle S-facing slope in generally undulating terrain, under tillage. Enclosure is not marked on either the 1st (1840) or 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map but was identified as a cropmark on an aerial photgraph (CUCAP July 1970 BDR 66/67). The cropmark (dims. c. 42m) clearly shows that the former enclosure was surrounded by two fosses, a smaller inner fosse and a wider outer fosse with a possible causeway over both fosses in the E quadrant. • TS077-051 Enclosure
  Description

  Just off the crest of a ridge on gentle E facing slope, in undulating terrain, under tillage. There is a fairly steep drop immediately S of the monument, with land falling to a stream c. 70m to S. Enclosure (TS077-055----) is visible 400m to the SSE. A farmyard located 20-30m N of the enclosure has been largely demolished. There is no visible trace of the monument at ground level. The enclosure was not marked on either the 1st (1840) or 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map but was identified as a circular cropmark on an aerial photograph (CUCAP July 1970 BDR 67). The cropmark (dims. c. 37m) gives evidence of a fosse around a former enclosure, there is a break in the fosse in the SE quadrant which possibly indicates a former causewayed entrance. • TS077-052 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a steep SE-facing slope in undulating terrain, surrounded by tillage to NW and SW and young plantation to SE. Townland boundary runs roughly N-S along NE side. Enclosures, 600m, 500m and 400m respectively to NE on opposite ridge, (TS077-047----; TS077-050---- and TS077-051----) were probably visible but have been levelled. Interior is uneven, a lot of scrub in SE quadrant, otherwise grass-covered. Oval area (diam. 28.6m N-S; 36m E-W) enclosed by a bank (Wth 1.2m crest, 3.3m base; int. H 0.48m; ext. H 0.56m). There is a steep drop to the exterior in the SE quad. which has been truncated (ext. H 2.3m). The NE quadrant also has quite a steep drop to the exterior and is very overgrown with brambles and scrub. There is no visible entrance feature.
