Description
In improved pasture, on a gentle N-facing slope. An oval area (dims. 22m ENE-WSW; 18m NNW-SSE) defined by a scarp (Wth 3.5m; H 0.25-0.65m) and an external fosse (Wth 5.7-14.5m; D 0.15m). The scarp is much lower NE-SW. The fosse is narrower in the SW-NW and NE-ESE sectors and is very broad in the SSE-SW where it has possibly been modified. There is a possible outer bank (int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.15m; Wth 6.15m) WSW-NW and a possible entrance at the SE. The interior is uneven. A sub-oval area visible on an aerial photograph (GSI R428/9, 16/04/1974) adjoining to N has been levelled and incorporated into the scarp of the enclosure. Circular area (dims. 4.75m N-S; 5.25m E-W) defined by fosse (overall Wth 1.7m; D 0.1m) W-NE which is best defined (overall Wth 2.4m; basal Wth 1.1m; D 0.1m) NE-W. Description
In improved, lush pasture, on a very gentle WSW-facing slope. Identified by the Ordnance Survey (pers. com. Paul Walsh, 01/12/1994). An oval area (dims. 23m NE-SW; 20m NW-SE) defined by the slight remains of a levelled scarp (Wth 2m; H 0.25m) from NNE-SW and levelled SW-WNW. The scarp has been disturbed around the NW arc where it abuts a deep land drain to the NW. The interior is generally uneven due to cattle poaching and slopes down gently to WSW. A circular area (dims. 4.5m N-S; 3.75m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 1.5m; D 0.15m) amd the remains of an outer bank (overall Wth 2.5m; Wth at top 1.25m; int. H 0.05m; ext. H 0.07m) SSE-SW and W-NE.
