Description
In improved wet pasture, on a natural curvilinear ridge, overlooking low-lying level area of ground (possible flood plain) to N. Identified on aerial photograph (Ordnance Survey 2434/5)). Circular area (dims. c. 6m N-S; 5m E-W) defined by fosse (Wth 2m; D 0.05m) S-N-SSE and outer bank (Wth 3.65m; int. H 0.05m; ext. H 0.1m) WSW-N-ENE is best defined NNE-ENE. Land drain (long axis NE-SW) has truncated exterior of fosse SSE-S. Interior has a N-facing slope in N-half and is level is S-half. Ring-barrow (TS066-075008-) is c. 55m to the WSW. Within N-sector of possible enclosure (TS066-075007-). Identified on aerial photograph (Ordnance Survey 2434/5). Circular area (dims. 5.2m N-S; 4.5m E-W) defined by fosse (Wth 1.5-2m; D 0.1m) and possible traces of an outer bank (Wth 3.25m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.1m) SW-W. Fosse is partially backfilled SE-SSE and exterior is damaged by drainage activity at NW. Interior is grass covered and generally level. In improved pasture, on a N-facing slope, slightly undulating with former water channels. Identified on aerial photograph (Ordnance Survey 2434/5). Circular area (dims. 5.6m N-S; 4.75m E-W) defined by fosse (Wth 1.85-1.9m; D 0.1-0.15m) and possible outer bank (Wth 2.85m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.12m) N-E is best preserved at NE. Description
In improved pasture, on a very gradual S-facing slope. A ring-barrow (TS066-075005-) is located within the NW sector. A sub-circular area (dims. 18m N-S; 20m E-W) defined by scarp (Wth 2-2.75m; H 0.15-0.25m) N-ESE, SE-W and on the straight side (L 16m) to the WNW with a possible fosse (Wth 4.1m; D 0.12m) along the WNW side which may be a result of drainage activity, and a very broad fosse in the NE quadrant which may be a result of natural water activity. Description
In improved, wet pasture, on a natural curvilinear ridge, overlooking a low-lying level area (possible flood plain) to the N. A ring-barrow (TS066-075001-) is located c. 55m to the ENE. A circular area (dims. 3.6m N-S; 3.3m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 1.3-1.4m; D 0.07-0.13m) and outer bank (Wth 2.6m; int. H 0.13m; ext. H 0.1m) in the NW quadrant. A drainage channel running N-S to the immediate E accentuates the higher ground around the E-arc. The interior is grass covered and has a gentle N-facing slope. Description
In pasture, on an ESE-facing slope. Circular area (diam. 18m) defined by scarp (Wth 5.3m; H 2.55m) which is obscured by vegetation WNW-NE and S-SW. Fosse (overall Wth 9m; basal Wth 1.9m; D 0.2m) WNW-NE and SE-SW and is obscured by vegetation S-SW. Interior has a gentle S-facing slope in N-half. - Emly Railway Station, store/warehouse, 1870–1890 · Regional interest
Description
Detached seven-bay railway goods shed, built c.1880. Pitched slate roof with terracotta ridge tiles, cast-iron rainwater goods, limestone copings and decorative brick eaves course. Red brick walls with chamfered limestone quoins. Segmental-headed openings, now blocked, with red brick voussoirs. Second multiple-bay double-height goods shed to east, also derelict, built c.1940, having single-storey extension to north-east. Pitched cement-tile roof with timber bargeboards to gables, concrete block chimneystack, cast-iron rainwater goods, and canopies to long elevations. Smooth rendered walls with concrete block wall to northwest elevation, square-headed fixed windows and timber battened doors. Both buildings located to side of railway line.
