• TS077-014 Enclosure
  Description

  On flat ground at the base of gentle SW-facing slope surrounded by pasture. Enclosure not marked on the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map and indicated as a roughly semi-circular enclosure on the 2nd (1906) ed. A townland boundary runs NW-SE through the S-SW sector and the enclosure is not depicted S of this boundary. It appears as a semi-circular cropmark on an aerial photograph (GSI S.639/40, 16-4-1974). The monument was inspected in 1982 and is described as being levelled. The field boundaries immediately N and E of the enclosure have been removed. Some of the debris from this clearance appears to have been dumped in the area of the enclosure. This area is now fenced off using an electric fence and has become overgrown with scrub. The bank of the enclosure is not discernible, though some vestiges of it may survive beneath the dumped material. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

• TS077-015001 Church
  Description

  On flat ground in gently undulating terrain. On the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map a small rectangular enclosure is shown as 'Supposed Site of Church'. The church and earthworks (TS077-015002-) are indicated on the 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map. The depicted earthworks do not quite correspond with those visible in the field. Where the church is indicated on the map there is a roughly circular earthwork (dims. c. 12.2m N-S; 12.6m E-W) defined by a broad, partially levelled bank. An L-shaped bank runs N-S (L 10m) W of the earthwork and the S end turns westward for a short length. However, another rectangular enclosure (TS077-015004-) (dims. 17.7m N-S; 10.7m E-W), immediately to the NE, may be the church.   Description

  On flat ground in terrain gently undulating to E. W end of long rectangular field is occupied by earthworks. These earthworks bear some resemblence to those indicated on the 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map and comprise at least nine separate enclosures (TS077-015003-, TS077-015004-, TS077-015006-, TS077-015007-, TS077-015008-, TS077-015009-, TS077-015010-, TS077-015011-) and one platform (TS077-015005-). The remainder of the field to E, beyond the earthworks indicated on the OS 6-inch map, has very slight undulations but is relatively flat with no definable structures.   On flat ground in terrain gently undulating to E. W end of long rectangular field is occupied by earthworks. These earthworks bear some resemblence to those indicated on the 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map. At least nine separate enclosures were identified (TS077-015003-, TS077-015004-, TS077-015005-, TS077-015006-, TS077-015007-, TS077-015008-, TS077-015009-, TS077-015010-, TS077-015011-). At the W end of field there is a rectangular earthwork (dims. 6.5m N-S; 20.4m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1.5m crest, 2.8m base; int. H 0.22m; ext. At least nine separate enclosures were identified (TS077-015003-, TS077-015004-, TS077-015005-, TS077-015006-, TS077-015007-, TS077-015008-, TS077-015009-, TS077-015010-, TS077-015011-). Located NE of an enclosure (TS077-015001-) which according to the 25-inch OS map is a church. However, this enclosure (dims. 17.7m N-S; 10.7m), defined by broad flattened bank to the E and W sloping very gradually to the interior, may be the church. NE of possible church (TS077-015004-), abutting the N field boundary. Roughly semi-circular platform (dims. 19-c. 25m N-S; 30.5m E-W) defined by shallow scarp (H 0.3m).   Description

  On flat ground in terrain gently undulating to E. W end of long rectangular field is occupied by earthworks. These earthworks bear some resemblence to those indicated on the 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map. At least nine separate enclosures were identified (TS077-015003-, TS077-015004-, TS077-015005-, TS077-015006-, TS077-015007-, TS077-015008-, TS077-015009-, TS077-015010-, TS077-015011-). Enclosure immediately E of platform (TS077-015005-). Defined on W side by scarp of enclosure (TS077-015004-). Gap of 1.6m. Bank on S and W side. S bank (Wth 1.9m crest, 3.1m base; int. H 0.21m; ext .H 0.38m) is 11m long. W bank at least 6.5m long, N end obscured by scrub. Some stone protrudes from surface of W bank which is well defined, as is S bank.   Description

  On flat ground in terrain gently undulating to E. W end of long rectangular field is occupied by earthworks. These earthworks bear some resemblence to those indicated on the 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map. At least nine separate enclosures were identified (TS077-015003-, TS077-015004-, TS077-015005-, TS077-015006-, TS077-015007-, TS077-015008-, TS077-015009-, TS077-015010-, TS077-015011-). Mid-way along the S side of the field there is a large area (dims. 90m E-W; 43.5m N-S) defined by a bank along the W edge and by scarp along the N and E edges. The S portion of this area has been truncated by a farm road. Within the western end of this area there is a sub-rectangular enclosure (dims. 20m N-S; 15.3m E-W), poorly defined except for bank on W side. It is defined by very low, flattened banks on its other sides. An enclosure (TS077-015006-) is located to the N and another enclosure (TS077-015009-), located within the larger scarped area, lies immediately to the E.   Description

  On flat ground in terrain gently undulating to E. W end of long rectangular field is occupied by earthworks. These earthworks bear some resemblence to those indicated on the 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map. At least nine separate enclosures were identified (TS077-015003-, TS077-015004-, TS077-015005-, TS077-015006-, TS077-015007-, TS077-015008-, TS077-015009-, TS077-015010-, TS077-015011-). Immediately E of enclosure (TS077-015008-). Mid-way along the S side of the field there is a large area (dims. 90m E-W; 43.5m N-S) defined by a bank along the W edge and by scarp along the N and E edges. The S portion of this area has been truncated by a farm road. An enclosure (TS077-015008-) abuts the W edge and another (TS077-015010-) abuts the E edge. This enclosure (TS077-015009-) is situated between these. It consists of a rectangular area (dims. 43.5m N-S; 32.2m E-W) defined by scarp to N and E, by the E bank of the enclosure to the W and by the field boundary to S.   Description

  On flat ground in terrain gently undulating to E. W end of long rectangular field is occupied by earthworks. These earthworks bear some resemblence to those indicated on the 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map. At least nine separate enclosures were identified (TS077-015003-, TS077-015004-, TS077-015005-, TS077-015006-, TS077-015007-, TS077-015008-, TS077-015009-, TS077-015010-, TS077-015011-). Immediately E of enclosure (TS077-015008-). Mid-way along the S side of the field there is a large area (dims. 90m E-W; 43.5m N-S) defined by a bank along the W edge and by scarp along the N and E edges. The S portion of this area has been truncated by a farm road. An enclosure (TS077-015008-) abuts the W edge and enclosure (TS077-015010-) abuts the E edge, with enclosure (TS077-015009-) between them. Enclosure (TS077-015010-) consists of a roughly square area (dims. 41m E-W) defined by scarp to N which becomes steeper to E. The scarp on the E side (H 0.93m) is quite substantial. • TS077-021 Enclosure
  Description

  On a gentle W-facing slope, just off the crest of a hill, in pasture. It is c. 50m S of a domestic well known as 'Tobershee' and c. 50m N of a possible enclosure (TS077-098----). The monument is depicted as a circular enclosure on the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map with a public road truncating the W quadrant. On the 2nd (1906) ed. only the E half of the monument is depicted (dims. c. 63m N-S), delimited by a single bank. The enclosure has been levelled, as has the field boundary to the S. • TS077-097 Enclosure
  Description

  In flat pasture adjacent to the Clashawley river, which is located c. 40m NE of the enclosure. Roughly circular cropmark (diam. c. 34m) identified on Air Corps aerial photograph (V.312/3087-6). The field was re-seeded in 1994/5. The field boundary to the N has been removed. There is no visible trace of the enclosure at ground level. • TS077-098 Enclosure
  Description

  On a gentle E-facing slope of hill, in undulating pasture. The slope falls more steeply to E of the former monument. Oval enclosure (diam. c. 37m) identified as a cropmark on an aerial photograph (GSI 16-4-1974, S. 639/640). It is located c. 100m SE of a levelled enclosure (TS077-021----). • TS077-119 Well
  Description

  In a small hollow at base of NE-facing slope, in pasture. Covered semi-circular well (Wth 1.04m; D 1.04m; water D 0.15m) opens out to ENE. It consists of a pointed-arched opening (Wth 0.95m; H 0.64m) consisting of two limestone, chamfered stones (T 0.18m) with punch dressing. The well was restored 5 or 6 years ago when the entrance stones had fallen out. The sides were built up and a capstone was placed on top. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011

  In tillage. A roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 50m) identified as a cropmark on satellite imagery (Google Earth satellite imagery, 14 July 2019) by Jean-Charles Caillère.
