  Description

  In wet pasture, on low rise of a gentle S-facing slope. Great views to S of mountain range. Circular area (dims. 20m NNE-SSW; 19m ESE-WNW) defined by bank (Wth 6.4m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.75m) which is very overgrown with furze and briars WNW-E and SSE-S. Possible entrance (Wth 2.5m) at SW. Fosse (Wth 5.6m; D 0.2m) NNE-S-NW and is present but obscured by overgrowth SSE-NW and N-ENE.. Interior generally level and grass covered. Enclosure (TS066-53001-) is located c. 8m to WSW and enclosure (TS066-054----) is c. 200m to E. Field very undulating as land drained leaving numerous dry water channels.   Description

  In wet, undulating pasture, on a raised area. An enclosure (TS066-053----) is located c. 8m to ENE. A raised rectangular area (max. dims. 8m NE-SW; 6m NW-SE) defined by remains of a levelled bank (Wth 4.65-4.8m; int. H 0.1-0.15m; ext.   Description

  In improved pasture. Depicted on latest edition OS 6-inch map as oval area (dims. c. 20m NE-SW and 15m WNW-ESE). Remains of levelled, circular area (diam. 20m) defined by shallow trace of fosse (Wth 2.5-4m; D 0.08m). Fosse is accentuated in places where there are dead nettles.   Description

  In improved, very undulating pasture. Oval area (dims. 14m N-S; 11m E-W) defined by scarp (Wth 3.5m; H 0.65m) with small, possible annexe WNW-NNW. Fosse (overall Wth 9.3m; basal Wth 3m; D 0.55m) is waterlogged E-W. Causewayed entrance (Wth 3.5m) at ENE. Outer bank (Wth 7.6m; int. H 0.55m; ext. H 0.2m) NNW-SE and possible remains of outer bank S-W. Interior generally level. Low profile land drain to SW and land drain (long axis ESE-WNW) c. 3m to N.   In generally level, improved pasture, on a slight rise in field. Depicted on latest edition OS 6-inch map as a sub-rectangular enclosure (dims. c. 32m NNW-SSE; c. 30m ENE-WSW) open (Wth c. 25m) to E and adjoining enclosure (TS066-056001-) to NE. • TS066-056001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In improved pasture, on a low rise. Circular area (dims. 55m N-S; 52m E-W) defined by a bank (Wth 5.25m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1m) SE-NNE which is best preserved (Wth 5.2m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.65m) S-WSW and W-NW; A levelled scarp (Wth 4.5m; H 0.4m) defines monument NNE-E-SE. Possible entrance (Wth 3.15m) at SSW and modern breach (Wth 2.1m) at SSE. Fosse (Wth 5.2m; D 0.15m) only visible NNW-NNE and has been backfilled elsewhere leaving a soft, poorly drained area SE-NNW. Interior has an uneven surface; distinctive raised area (dims. 13m N-S; 10m E-W) off-centre to E, at field boundary, may be a possible house site. Monument is truncated by a field boundary (long-axis NNW-SSE) across E-sector. Monument is cut by a wide fosse-like feature (long axis SW-NE) (Wth 6.35m; D 0.7-1.75m) across NW-sector, which may be a later drainage feature as it continues into field to ENE as shown on an aerial photograph (GSI May 1977, R.533/2; G.S.I. 16-4-1974 R.518/517). • TS066-057 Barrow - unclassified
  Description

  In gently undulating, level pasture. Circular area (dims. 21m N-S; 23m E-W) defined by low earthen bank (Wth 7.3m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.9m) ESE-S-W-NNE which is reduced to a scarp (Wth 2.5m; H 0.65m) NNE-E-ESE. Bank and scarp are eroded on exterior corresponding to cattle breaches through bank at W, NW, NE and ESE. Fosse (overall Wth 7.6m; basal Wth 2.3m; D 0.4m) best preserved SW-NE. Fosse (Wth 1.6m; D 0.2m) is less defined NE-ESE. Wide lazy beds (long axis ENE-WSW) truncate interior across a distinct SE-facing slope. Depression in NW-quadrant, cut by lazy beds, may be a damaged barrow.   Description

  In improved, undulating pasture. An enclosure (TS066-057----) is located c. 3.5m to the W. A circular area (dims. 7.25m N-S; 6.75m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 1.7m; D 0.15m) which is waterlogged SSW-W-WNW. The interior has a gentle SW-facing slope and is the same height as the external ground level. A low, linear scarp running E-W lies c. 1.75m N of the monument and a similar, yet gradual scarp lies c. 11m to the S, these may be natural or man-made features.   Description

  In improved, gently undulating pasture. Circular area (dims. 19m N-S; 20m E-W) defined by scarp (Wth 3.15m; H 0.9m) W-N-S and levelled bank (Wth 8.9m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.8m) S-W. Possible entrance (Wth 6m) at WNW is denoted by low scarp. Fosse is visible S-NNW and is best defined (overall Wth 12.4m; basal Wth 7m; D 0.3m) SW-NW. Outer bank (Wth 7.75m; int. H 0.3m; ext.   Description

  In improved, undulating pasture, on a naturally elevated area defined by drainage water channels. Identified during field survey by Alison McQueen and Vera Rahilly (2 February 2009). A farm trackway is depicted on the 2nd (1906) ed. OS 6-inch map c. 20m to the E. There are ditch barrows (TS066-190003- and TS066-190002-) c. 4m to the ENE and c. 8m to the NNE respectively and an enclosure (TS066-055----) is located c. 58m to the SW. A circular area (dims. 8m N-S; 8.5m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 2.7m; D 0.15m). The interior is grass covered and has a depression within centre. Ring-barrows (TS066-190003- and TS066-190001-) are located c. 6m to the SSE and c. 8m to the SSW respectively and an enclosure (TS066-055----) is located c. 85m to SW. A circular area (dims. 6m N-S; 6.5m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 2.75m; D 0.15m) which is less defined in the W quadrant (Wth 2.5m; D 0.1m). The interior is grass covered. A ditch barrow (TS066-190002-) is located c. 14m to the SSE. A circular area (diam. 8m) defined by a fosse (Wth 2m; D 0.15m) N-SW and presumed fosse waterlogged from SW-W-N. Architectural heritage

• Shronell House, house, 1600–1820 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached L-plan three-bay two-storey house, built c.1750, front, garden, elevation having bowed end bays, one substantially larger than other and possibly an earlier structure. Rear has return to west end, two-storey possibly later lean-to addition to middle and single-storey lean-to extension. Hipped slate roofs, pitched to return, with lead flashing, rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Smooth rendered walls to front and roughcast to rear, with buttress to west elevation. Square-headed window openings throughout with six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows, tripartite to ground floor front and one hornless sash window to rear, all having limestone sills. One-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows to extension. Square-headed door opening with timber and glazed door and decorative overlight. Round-headed entrance archway with timber battened double doors to yard to rear of house. Outbuildings with pitched slate roofs, whitewashed walls and timber battened fittings to openings.
