• TS076-034001 Enclosure
  Description

  On flat ground on broad crest of hill, in undulating terrain under grass. Monument indicated on 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure, by the 2nd (1901-05) the S quadrant appears to have been levelled. The monument (overall diam. c. 45m) shows up as a cropmark on an aerial photograph (CUCAP July 1970 BDR 87) and on satellite imagery (Bing viewed October 2022). Another enclosure (TS076-034002-) also appears as a cropmark c. 200m to N. The enclosure is not visible at ground level. • TS076-034002 Enclosure
  Description

  Off crest on ground sloping gently to N, in undulating terrin, under grass. Monument not depicted on either 1st or 2nd ed. OS 6-inch map. Appears as a roughly circular cropmark on aerial photograph (CUCAP July 1970 BDR 87), located c. 200m NW of another enclosure (TS076-034001-). Only the SW quadrant is clearly indicated. A field boundary runs over the W side, running N-S, with a field ditch to the E. Also field boundary runs E-W along the N sector. • TS076-035 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a natural rise, ground falling off to NW in undulating terrain, under pasture. Ringfort overgrown with nettles and thistles. Field boundary to N has been removed, boundary to S still in situ. Large sileage mound is located immediately W of ringfort and older, smaller heap to N. Roughly circular area (diam. 33.5m N-S; 30m E-W) defined by bank (Wth 1.2-1.8m crest, 3.1-3.7m base; H above int. 0.81-0.46m; H above ext. 0.06-0.55m in SE and SW quadrants respectively). Interior is very disturbed, appears to have been partially dug into and sileage dumped into interior, particularly in E half. On the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map a quarry is depicted adjoining the NW quadrant. Where the bank is disturbed it appears to have a high stone content. No fosse visible above ground or clearly defined entrance.
