• WM008-029 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on the E facing slope of a low ridge which runs from NW-SE in wet pasture-land, with good views of undulating land to NE, E & SE. Stream 95m to N which marks townland boundary with Johnstown. Trackway (WM008-028----) 320m to W. A large slightly raised sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 76m N-S; 74m E-W) enclosed by a fragmentary earthen bank, levelled from W-N, a slight fosse and low counter-scarp bank. There is a possible entrance gap (Wth 2.9m) at S. The interior slopes gently from WSW-ENE and has traces of cultivation ridges which run WNW-ESE. • WM008-060 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a rise in well drained grassland, with good views to the S & W. A circular shaped area (approx. diam. 42m N-S; 46m E-W) enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank and wide shallow external fosse. The bank has several disturbance gaps and has been quarried away at NNE. There is an entrance gap at SW. The interior has a general slope from N-S, and has been quarried away on the SSW. It contains shallow depressions of unknown significance, probably quarry holes. A field fence running NNE-SSW intersects the monument at N & S.
