Located in the middle of a low-lying field with open field drain leading off the well to the SE. Concrete steps lead down to the well. No visible sign of any votive offerings at the well. Canal lock, built c.1805, consisting of pair of (restored) timber and steel breast gates with timber footboards, tail gates and balance beams. Set within ashlar limestone lock channel. Located to the east of Heatherstown Bridge (15402718) and to the west of Thomastown Harbour.
