• WM012-082 Chapel
  Description

  Situated on ESE facing slope of a low rise in grassland, surrounded by poorly drained land. The ground rises to the W and S of the site, and views are restricted. The grass covered wall footings of the S and E wall of the chapel are visible (approx. dims. 7m N-S x 8m E-W) standing in the W quadrant of a trapezoidal-shaped ecclesiastical enclosure (WM012-082001-). The wall footings of a small external rectangular annexe (approx. diam. 6m N-S; 4m E-W) are visible adjoining the W end of the chapel. There is an entrance gap (Wth 3m) mid-way along the S wall of the chapel, and the wall footings of two internal walls are also visible. See attached plan of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI. • WM012-082001 Ecclesiastical enclosure
  Description

  Situated on ESE facing slope of a low rise in grassland, surrounded by poorly drained land. The ground rises to the W and S of the site, and views are restricted. A trapezoidal shaped area (approx. dims. 23m N-S; 34m E-W) depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map is enclosed by a bank of earth and stone with an entrance gap (Wth 2m) at WNW, and a second entrance gap (Wth 3.5m) at W. Traces of cultivation ridges are visible crossing the interior from ESE-WNW. A chapel site (WM012-082---) is located in W quadrant of the enclosure. A larger outer roughly oval-shaped enclosure (approx. diam. 125m NE-SW x 200m E-W) is visible on the Digital Globe aerial photograph taken November 2011.
