• WM025-094 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a slight rise, in gently undulating pasture, with extensive views to SE. Monument described as a much disturbed roughly circular-shaped area (dims. 34m E-W) enclosed by a low, earth and stone bank visible from E-S-WSW with dry-stone facing on the exterior from ESE-E. The bank has small gaps and several slight depressions. The monument has been much disturbed by quarrying activity from W-N-NE and the resultant Z-shaped scarp has been faced with drystone masonry. There are possible traces of a shallow external fosse and a low outer bank from SSE-S-SW. The original entrance is not recognisable. The interior has a general ENE-facing slope and there is a subrectangular-shaped depression in the NE quadrant. The W and N quadrants and the centre have been dug out to facilitate an old farmyard. • WM025-095 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a low rise, in gently undulating pasture, with good views in all directions. Monument described as an oval-shaped area (dims. 40m E-W; 30m N-S) enclosed by an inner bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. The inner earth and stone bank is poorly preserved having several modern gaps and disturbance depressions. A shallow intervening fosse is visible from SW-W-N-E. An outer bank is visible from S-W-N and is very slight and fragmentary from W-N. A trench has been cut through the outer bank at W and a bank running NW-SE extends from it. The fosse and outer bank are disturbed at S. The entrance is not recognisable. The interior of the ringfort rises very slightly from the perimeter towards the centre where there are the remains of a possible house site (WM025-095001-). An enclosure truncates the outer bank of the monument at S. A field boundary running N-S abuts the monument at NE and a slight earth and stone bank is visible from NE-ENE. Monument was placed on the Register of Historic Monuments on the 28/02/1989. See attached profile of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI.   Description

  Situated on a low rise, in gently undulating pasture, with good views in all directions. In centre of ringfort (WM025-095----) are the remains of two slight irregular shaped banks of earth and stone which may represent the remains of a house site. • WM025-096 Moated site
  Description

  Situated on an E-facing slope, in pasture, with moderate views in all directions. OS trig. point (390ft/119m OD) located inside monument. Moated site described as a subrectangular-shaped area enclosed by an inner bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. The substantial inner earth and stone bank has been incorporated into a townland boundary running N-S along the E side and is almost reduced to a scarp along the N and S sides. The inner bank also has traces of internal and external dry stone facing and the NW and SW corners are slightly raised. The fosse is wide, shallow and flat-bottomed. The poorly preserved outer earth and stone bank is almost completely levelled at S. There are remains of internal stone facing at the NW corner and along the N side. The original entrance is not recognisable, however there is a gap at the NE and SW corners of the inner bank. The interior has a general E-facing slope and there are four house sites (WM025-096001-) within. Monument was placed on the Register of Historic Monuments on the 28/02/1989.   Description

  Situated on an E-facing slope, in pasture, with moderate views in all directions. In centre of moated site (WM025-096----) are the remains of four rectangular-shaped conjoined areas defined by low rubble stone banks running NNW-SSE which probably represents the remains of a hour or house sites.
