  Description

  Situated on steep NW facing slope of rising ground in grassland. Toberallen holy well (WM012-204----) 75m to SW, and ringfort (WM012-181---) 175m to SE. The stream which marks the townland boundary with Knockatee lies 30m to the W. A narrow roadway formed the N boundary of Toberallen Churchyard and ran NE towards the public road as shown on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map. On this map a small rectangular shaped church aligned NE-SW is shown standing in centre of a small trapezoidal shaped churchyard which may have served as a burial ground (WM012-180002-). This building is depicted as 'Church Site of' on the revised 1911 ed. OS 25-inch map. A low grass-covered mound of stones (approx. diam. 5m N-S; 7m E-W; H 0.5m) in the centre of the churchyard marks the site of Toberallen Church.   Description

  Situated on steep NW facing slope of rising ground in grassland. Toberallen holy well (WM012-204----) 75m to SW, and ringfort (WM012-181---) 175m to SE. The stream which marks the townland boundary with Knockatee lies 30m to the W. Toberallen Churchyard depicted on the 1837 OS 6-inch map as a small rectangular trapezoidal shaped enclosure with Toberallen Church (WM012-180---) in centre. A narrow roadway formed the N boundary of the churchyard and ran NE towards the public road. Present remains consist of a rectangular shaped area (approx. dims. 20m NW-SE; 24m NE-SW) enclosed by a low earthen bank, with site of levelled Toberallen church (WM012-180---) in the centre. No surface evidence of any low stones marking burial plots and it is doubtful whether interior of churchyard was ever used for burials.   Description

  Situated on a natural rise in gently undulating grassland. The ground rises slightly from N-E-S, and falls steeply from the site on the other sides. Toberallen Church (WM012-180----) and churchyard (WM012-180002-) lies 175m to NW. Ringfort (WM012-182---) 180m to SSE. Depicted on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map as a circular shaped enclosure annotated ‘fort’, with a gravel pit outside the bank at NW. This ringfort has been partially levelled on E side as depicted on the revised 1911 ed. OS 6-inch map. Remains consist of a raised circular-shaped area (approx. diam. 32m N-S; 33m E-W) enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank and fosse best preserved from SW-W-N-NNE and reduced to a scarp elsewhere.   Description

  Situated on the edge of a natural terrace on the W facing slope of a high ridge in grassland, surrounded by undulating countryside. Ringfort (WM012-181---) 180m to NNW. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS Fair Plan map as a circular shaped enclosure annotated ‘fort’. Remains consist of a raised sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 36m N-S; 40m E-W) enclosed by a poorly preserved earthen bank and a slight external which is visible from NE-E-S. Traces of cultivation ridges are visible running NE-SW across the interior, which rises slightly towards the centre. Part of the perimeter has been quarried away in the SW quadrant. Field fences intersect the perimeter of the monument at W and N. See attached profile of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI.   Description

  Situated on NNE facing slope e of a ridge in undulating grassland with a good views from NW-NE. The road which marks the townland boundary with Clonkill lies 30m to E. Depicted as a circular shaped enclosure on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map but not indicated on subsequent editions of the OS maps. This monument has been largely levelled. Remains consist of a circular shaped area (approx. diam. 31m NW-SE; 35m NE-SW; H 0.6m) defined by a scarp and enclosed by a wide, shallow fosse (Wth 4.4m; D 0.25m) that is only visible from ESE-S.   Description

  Toberallen Church (WM012-180----) and churchyard (WM012-180002-) lies 75m to NE. The stream running N-S which marks the townland boundary with Knockatee lies 5m to W. Two wells are depicted at this location of the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map and the well to the N is annotated as 'Toberallen'. On this map both wells are depicted with water flowing out at SW and into the stream which marks the townland boundary.
