  Description

  An overgrown D-shaped enclosure is described as a graveyard on the 1839 and 1941 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and it is located at the N edge of a plateau. This is a D-shaped overgrown area (dims. c. 47m N-S; c. 43m E-W) defined by a straight N-S field bank at W and a scarp and fosse (at SE: Wth 3m; int. D 1.4m; ext. D 0.7m) elsewhere. There is no visible entrance. Within are the fragmentary remains of a structure (ext. dims. 9.8m E-W; 5.4m N-S) defined by clay bonded walls (Wth 0.75m; ext. H 0.8m), but the interior of this structure is dug out (D 1.4m). There is no evidence of headstones or grave markers in the enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). This is a D-shaped overgrown area (dims. c. 47m N-S; c. 43m E-W) defined by a straight N-S field bank at W and a scarp and fosse (at SE: Wth 3m; int. D 1.4m; ext. D 0.7m) elsewhere. There is no visible entrance. The remains of a small structure (WX037-082001-) are in the interior, but there is no evidence of headstones or grave-markers in the enclosure. Archaeological monitoring (21E0093) by D. Shine c. 150m to the S at the closest point produced no related material (excavations.ie 2021:021).
