Description
Detached three-bay two-storey over basement country house, begun 1838, on a square plan centred on (single-storey) prostyle tetrastyle Greek Doric portico to ground floor; three- or five-bay two-storey side elevations. Occupied, 1901. Leased, 1911. In alternative use, 1914-20. Sold, 1977. Hipped slate roof on a quadrangular plan with clay ridge tiles, pilaster-detailed granite ashlar central chimney stack on a square plan having cut-granite corbelled stepped capping supporting terracotta pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on overhanging eaves having paired timber consoles. Rendered, ruled and lined walls on rendered chamfered plinth on cut-granite chamfered cushion course on rendered base with rusticated rendered piers to corners supporting rendered band to eaves. Square-headed central door opening behind (single-storey) prostyle tetrastyle Greek Doric portico approached by flight of six cut-granite steps with cut-granite columns having responsive pilasters supporting cornice on garland-detailed frieze below blocking course, and monolithic pilasters framing glazed timber panelled double doors having sidelights on panelled risers below overlights. Square-headed window openings (ground floor) with cut-granite sills on cut-granite "Cavetto" consoles, and concealed dressings with pediments on fluted consoles framing six-over-six timber sash windows. Square-headed window openings (first floor) with sill course, and concealed dressings framing six-over-six timber sash windows. Interior including (ground floor): central hall retaining carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors, columnar screen with paired fluted Greek Doric columns having responsive pilasters, and decorative plasterwork cornice to ceiling on garland-detailed plasterwork frieze; and carved timber surrounds to door openings to remainder framing timber panelled doors with carved timber surrounds to window openings framing timber panelled shutters on panelled risers. Set in landscaped grounds.

Description
Attached five-bay double-height single-cell Catholic chapel, built 1860-2, on a rectangular plan. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, lichen-spotted cut-granite coping to gables on trefoil-detailed gabled kneelers including lichen-spotted cut-granite coping to gable (south) on trefoil-detailed gabled kneelers with rendered, ruled and lined buttressed gabled bellcote to apex, and cast-iron rainwater goods on cut-granite eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Tuck pointed snecked limestone walls on cut-granite chamfered cushion course on plinth with cut-granite clasping stepped buttresses to corners having cut-granite "slated" coping. Trefoil-headed lancet window openings in bipartite arrangement with cut-granite block-and-start surrounds having chamfered reveals framing fixed-pane fittings having leaded stained glass margins centred on leaded stained glass roundels. "Rose Window" (north) with cut-granite surround having chamfered reveals framing iron mesh storm panel over fixed-pane fittings having leaded stained glass margins centred on leaded stained glass panels. Full-height interior open into roof with stencilled timber panelled wainscoting supporting carved timber dado rail, stencilled walls, Gothic-style timber rood screen, stencilled timber pews ("IP"), encaustic tiled stepped dais to sanctuary (north) with Gothic-style reredos below stained glass "Rose Window", and exposed stencilled Hammerbeam timber roof construction on cut-granite beaded corbels with wind braced rafters to stencilled ceiling on stencilled frieze. Detached three- or five-bay single-storey lean-to glasshouse, built 1860, on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay double-height breakfront on a bowed plan. Now in ruins. Curvilinear central roof behind parapet with urn finial-topped cast-iron frame; curvilinear lean-to flanking roofs with cast-iron frames. Square-headed central door opening approached by flight of four cut-granite steps with "Guilloche"-detailed pilasters framing glazed cast-iron double doors having fixed-pane overlight. Square-headed flanking window openings between "Guilloche"-detailed pilasters with fixed-pane cast-iron fittings centred on cast-iron pivot fittings. Interior in ruins. Set in landscaped grounds shared with Edermine House.

Farmyard complex, extant 1840, on a U-shaped plan about a courtyard including (south): Attached seven-bay two-storey coach house-cum-stable outbuilding on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay full-height pedimented breakfront. Hipped slate roof on a T-shaped plan centred on pitched (gabled) slate roof with clay ridge tiles, paired rendered red brick Running bond central chimney stacks having stringcourses below corbelled stepped chamfered capping, cut-granite monolithic pediment to gable with cut-granite bellcote to apex, and no rainwater goods surviving on red brick header bond eaves. Coursed rubble stone walls originally rendered with red brick flush quoins to corners; coursed rubble stone surface finish (breakfront) on cut-granite chamfered plinth with red brick flush quoins to corners. Square-headed central carriageway with lintel framing timber boarded or tongue-and-groove timber panelled double doors. Segmental-headed door openings with cut-granite thresholds, and red brick block-and-start surrounds framing timber boarded half-doors having fanlights. Square-headed window openings (ground floor) with cut-granite sills, and red brick block-and-start surrounds framing six-over-six timber sash windows. Square-headed window openings (first floor) with cut-granite sill course, and red brick block-and-start surrounds with hood mouldings over framing six-over-six timber sash windows. Interior including (ground floor): elliptical-headed arcaded stalls on cast-iron pillars with timber boarded or tongue-and-groove timber panelled partitions, and moulded plasterwork cornices to ceilings. Attached single-bay two-stage water tower, extant 1863, on a square plan. Now disused. Part creeper- or ivy-covered fine roughcast battered walls supporting weathervane finial-topped embossed cast-iron water tank on cut-granite "cornice". Paired round-headed (first stage) or single round-headed (second stage) window openings in round-headed recesses with cut-granite sills, and concealed red brick block-and-start surrounds having stepped reveals framing remains of four-over-four timber sash windows. Rendered, ruled and lined walls on rendered plinth with rendered band to eaves; lime rendered surface finish to rear (east) elevation. Segmental-headed central door opening with threshold, and concealed dressings framing timber panelled door having overlight. Square-headed window openings including square-headed window openings to rear (east) elevation centred on segmental-headed window opening with cut-granite sills, and concealed dressings framing replacement uPVC casement windows replacing two-over-two timber sash windows with replacement uPVC casement windows to rear (east) elevation centred on fanlight.
