• WX005-003 Ringfort - unclassified
  Description

  Marked as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 50m) on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and known locally as the site of a 'raheen'. It is on a slight N-facing slope. Nothing is visible at ground level but it can be seen as faint circular cropmark enclosure (diam. c. 60m) defined by traces of a single slight fosse feature on aerial photographs (MM (15)12–16). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).   Description

  Located towards the top of a SW-facing slope. The cropmark of a circular enclosure (int. diam. c. 60m NE-SW) defined by a fosse feature is visible on Google Earth (14/07/2018). There is a second outer fosse or drain outside what would be a narrow bank feature (Wth c. 3m) SW-NW. It was first reported by Faith Bailey. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 3 October 2019
