  Description

  Situated on a marked SW-facing slope. A modern graveyard contained within a quadrangular enclosure (max. dims. 75m NE-SW; 60m NW-SE) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2m; H 1.3m) and slight indications of an external fosse (Wth 1.5m); the NW and NE perimeters have been replaced by modern walls with an entrance at the NE. There is a circular granite font fixed to the graveyard wall and there are a number of eighteenth-century gravestones. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).   Description

  Bowl-shaped granite block (diam. 0.72m; H 0.4m) with a circular flat rimmed basin (D. 0.18m, tapering from 0.58 to 0.4m in Wth). Drain hole (diam. at top 0.08m; diam. at base 0.02m) at base to one side. Bulbous protrusion (0.9m x 0.14m; H 0.15m) on one side of font at top, opposite side is presently obscured where it is built into a modern altar.   Description

  A granite cross (H 0.65m; Wth 0.36m; T 0.13m thick; Wth of shaft 0.24m) with short, stubby arms and no evidence for a chamfer. On one face is a crucifixion scene in relief (the body is in bold relief, raised 0.2m). On the opposite face in figure in relief (raised 1.5cm). The upper portion of the figure’s limbs survive, but the shaft of the cross has been broken at this point. • WI034-010001 Fortification
  Description

  Situated on a gentle S-facing slope. Built by the Viceroy, William Cary, after 1628, and taken by the Confederates in 1641, after which it was allowed to fall into ruin. All that survives is part of a possible wall (L 5m; H 3m) to the SW of St Brigid's church in the modern graveyard. The field in which it stood is still called the 'castle field'. Part of Carysfort medieval borough (WI034-010----). (Lewis 1837, vol. 1, 283).   Description

  In a low-lying area adjacent to a small stream, a truncated mound of burnt stones and charcoal (c. 4.4m E-W; c. 3.5m N-S) and the remains of a possible trough were excavated in advance of the construction of holiday cottages (Excavation Licence 04E1713).
