Description
In pasture. Circular area (diam. 30.3m) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.5m). Bank highest to S. Roadway and laneway skirt enclosure to N and W respectively. Interior partially overgrown with ferns; formerly planted with trees (Hartnett 1939, 227). Ancient (church?) bell found here (O'Sullivan 1955). In pasture. Levelled; circular, saucer-shaped area (diam. 35m) defined by undulation (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.4m). Centre of interior waterlogged. Hartnett (1939, 227) noted one third of rampart remaining to N, '6 feet in height at the outside and ... 3 feet inside'; coins said to be "Roman" found here during levelling of site.
