Description
Bowman (1934, 352) recorded church site and burial ground in John Bourke's land, in field called 'The killeens...The actual site of the church is still discernible - being marked by grass covered mounds - and measure 26 feet by 19 feet. No sign of graves are now to be seen'. Two fields c. 400m S of Boolymore House known as 'Upper Killeen' and 'Lower Killeen'. No visible surface trace of church or burial ground here. Description
In tillage, c. 250m to S of River Blackwater. Depicted as hachured roughly circular enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map; as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on 1938 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; circular enclosure visible due to differential growth pattern in wheat-crop. Fosse visible as cropmark in aerial photograph (CASAP). Recorded by Bowman (1934, 352) as 'practically levelled' single-ramparted fort (diam. c. 29yd) on Daniel O'Mahony's land. Description
In level pasture, c. 350m to SE of River Blackwater. Roughly circular area (44.5m E-W; 38.8m N-S) enclosed by heavily overgrown earthen bank (int. H 1.35m; ext. H 1.7m). Bank stone-faced externally and incorporated into field fence system to N, E and S. Souterrain (CO031-04202-) in interior. Description
Road bridge (Wth 7.44m; long axis E-W) over Rathcool River. Random ashlar sandstone construction with rock-faced finish. Three segmental arches with dressed limestone voussoirs. Bluntly pointed shallow cutwaters of cut limestone on both sides; piered abutments at either end. Roadside section of parapet wall faced with coursed ashlar limestone. Description
Triple-arch road bridge over Owenbaun River, built c. 1800, having rubble sandstone walls with rendered copings to parapets. Dressed sandstone V-cutwaters to south elevation. Ordnance Survey benchmark to south parapet wall. Dressed sandstone voussoirs to segmental arches.
