Description
On ground sloping down to NNW, in area planted with coniferous trees. Collapsed remains of limekiln, indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map, survives as irregularly-shaped earthen mound (H on downslope c. 3m; H on upslope c. 0.5m; diam. c. 8m) on which trees are growing. Description
In pasture, on break in NW-facing slope. Roughly circular area (34m NNE-SSW) enclosed by worn earthen bank (H 1.2m) E->N; farm building to NE; external fosse (D 0.6m) ESE->WSW. Bank stone-faced in parts and heavily overgrown; gaps to NNE and SW due to cattle-track crossing interior. To S drain runs from interior, through gap in bank, into fosse and flows downslope to NW. Interior planted with conifers on NW side; earth and debris piled high on SE side. Possible souterrain (CO039-08102-) in interior. Description
In pasture, on break in NW-facing slope; commanding view of Blackwater River to N and NE along the Owenbaun River. Circular area (diam. c. 30m)defined by earthen bank (H 1.1m) NE->W; scarp (H 1.7m) elsewhere; external fosse (D 0.5m) NE->SW. Bank height greatest to SE; strengthened with stonework in parts; upright stone, at base of external bank face to NE, may be part of original stone facing. Interior planted with conifers. Description
On high level pasture, with commanding views to N and NW over Blackwater River valley and E over Owenbaun River valley. Circular area (diam. 8m) enclosed by shallow fosse (D 0.3m; Wth 4m) and outer earthen bank (max. H1m). Bank highest to W and N; low points to SW and NE may mark possible entrances. Slightly raised interior, has poorly defined edge with gradual rise towards centre. Site planted with coniferous trees. Second ring-barrow (7870) c. 12m to S.
