Description
In pasture, on SW-facing slope. Irregular area (L 58m; Wth 48.5m) defined by scarp (H 0.9m) with external fosse (D 0.5m) NE->SW. Traces of stone-built bank atop scarp SE->SW. Interior raised (from NE-SW) to SW to compensate for hillslope. Irregular spread of stones in SE quadrant may be remains of hachured features on OS 6-inch map (1842). Description
In pasture, on a SW-facing slope, overlooking Roaringwater Bay and its islands. A D-shaped area (18m NE-SW) is defined by a heavily overgrown scarp (H 0.6m), with the straight side at NE (L 30m NW-SE) formed by a stone field boundary. The enclosure abuts a farm lane which skirts a second enclosure (CO140-039----) at SW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. In pasture, in area of rock outcrop. Large rock supported on smaller stones. 'It bears thirteen cupmarks and a dumb-bell motif on its horizontal upper surface' (Finaly 1973, 100).
