Description
Ruined broad rectangular 2-storey house, of early 19th-century appearance. Entrance front (SW) of 3 bays with central round-headed door ope; side elevations 2 bays deep; rear partially collapsed. Description
Overgrown square tower (int: 2.46m E-W; 2.47m N-S), c. 30m NE of Gortanimill House (CO069-005001-). Two-storey with ground floor door in W wall, fireplace in S wall, windows in N and E walls; 2nd-floor door in S wall, fireplace in W wall and windows in N and E walls. Embattled parapet wall. Description
In rough grazing, to SE of stream. Overgrown mound of burnt material (L 21m; Wth 14m; H 0.6m); opening (Wth 3m) faces SW; second opening (Wth 2m) faces ESE. Description
In shallow depression in boggy mountain land, on S side of Douglas Rivervalley. Circle consists of nine stones, 0.5m to 1.1m L, 0.3m to 0.4m T and 0.4 to 0.9m H. Stones decrease in height from entrance to axial stone. Internal measurement along main axis, aligned NNE-SSW, is 7.5m. Internal quartz block (H 0.2m; 0.55m x 0.4m), with quartz pieces possibly broken from it, stands just E of main axis. - CO069-088 Mass-rock
Description
In rough marshy grazing surrounded by trees and bushes, on a level area to the S of the Douglas River. A large roughly rectangular boulder (2.8m E-W; 2.65m N-S; H 1.4m), which is partially obscured by moss and overgrowth, was used as a mass-rock during penal times. The boulder has an upsloping edge along its S side and a flat area along its N side. The surrounding area is in known locally as 'Móinteáin an Aifrinn'.
