  Description

  In S quadrant of graveyard, on SW-facing slope. Depicted as roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) named Kilroe Grave Yard and Kilroe Burial Gd. respectively on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps; burial ground extended to NW and NE on 1937 OS 6-inch map. Subcircular raised area (internal diam. 32m NW-SE) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.73m), topped by stone wall of graveyard E->NW. Bank planted with trees; modified on NE side where it forms a roughly straight line. Burials in interior, which slopes down gently to SW. According to Grove White (1913, vol. 3, 227), 'the Field Book of 1840 records: - Kylerue Graveyard - A Danish fort lately made a graveyard for strangers'.   Shown on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps as roughly circular enclosure (see ringfort 12565) and named 'Kilroe Grave Yard' and 'Kilroe Burial Gd.' respectively; shown on 1937 OS 6-inch map as altered and extended to almost rectangular shape (c. 50m NW-SE; c. 40m NE-SW) retaining arc of ringfort S->W; lane (L c. 300m) shown on 1905 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps accessing burial ground from road to NW. Subrectangular area enclosed by stone wall; wall on SW side curves to follow line of circular enclosure. Still in use; earliest grave marker noted dated 1823. According to Bowman (1934, 523), site of Kilroe parish church in SE corner but 'not a vestige of the building now remains'. Holy well (13997) c. 180m to S.   In pasture, c. 200m S of possible church and burial ground (14106). Bowman (1934, 523) recorded holy well here, noting that 'Rounds have been discontinued for a long time'.   Description

  Detached house with dormer attic, built c. 1870, being five-bay and two-storey to front and three-bay and three-storey to rear, with recent single-storey extension to west. Pitched artificial slate roof with rendered chimneystacks, replacement dormer windows, uPVC rainwater goods and having rooflights to rear. Coursed rubble limestone walls with raised quoins. Square-headed window openings with replacement uPVC windows, having red brick voussoirs to ground floor and dressed limestone voussoirs to upper floors. Square-headed door opening having timber panelled door with overlight and red brick voussoirs. Front of site has ornamental cast-iron gates with decorative cast-iron piers and railings.

  Description

  Attached six-bay two-storey former house, built c. 1800., with attic to north end. Currently in use as offices. Hipped artificial slate roof with uPVC rainwater goods. Painted rendered walls with painted render quoins. Square-headed window openings having timber sliding sash windows, six-over-six pane to southern half and two-over-two pane to northern half, with limestone sills. Square-headed door openings, one to south end of façade and second to north gable, with replacement timber doors, northern having rendered steps. Decorative cast-iron railings to site on rendered plinths.

• Greenane Bridge, bridge, 1740–1750 · Regional interest
  Description

  Five-arched road bridge over River Allow, dated 1745, of coursed rubble limestone construction, having tooled cut limestone voussoirs to segmental arches, raised keystones to south elevation, rounded tooled cut limestone piers with reinforced concrete to bases, and dressed limestone copings to parapet walls. Cut limestone V-cutwaters to upstream elevation. Bridge widened to north side in mid-nineteenth century. Limestone plaque with inscription in Latin to south parapet. Cast-iron postbox to east end of south parapet.
